On Friday we had to put down our 13-year-old male Chihuahua. He had congestive heart failure, his passing was sudden and heart breaking. I miss him so much and wonder when my pain will get better.

Sorry to hear this.

We had a little guy like that back in my high school days.

It just hurts and only time will diminish the pain, or a new puppy.

My condolences. I think virtually every member here has felt it. It will fade some, eventually. But I don't think most of them ever really fade completely. They are family.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11

...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

So sorry to hear of your best friend passing. I know to well the grief is overwhelming. For now, remember the good times and how much love and laughter the little guy brought into your life.

When the time is right, think about adopting a new pup that will give you love and take your mind off your loss. Your pup would want you to be happy again. Finding another pup really helps.

Very sorry about the loss of your pup. It takes a good bit of time (at least in my case)but it's always the memories you'll always have that last a lifetime. That grief you carry may also be the reasons in the future for owning another and finding that you still have that capacity to love them deeply. RIP sweet pup..

I'm sorry for your loss, friend. The suddenness is the worst. Of all the dogs I've had go over the bridge, the one I lost suddenly still hurts the most.

My deep condolences. I had to euthanize one of my cats a couple of weeks ago to end his suffering. Spike was only 12 years old. I have 5 other cats in my menagerie, so we have all felt the loss.

Losing a dear pet is hard. Time will ease the pain.
