I am fortunate to have acquired one of Dave Truong's Molon Labe rings. I have a question about the design. On the top face is a Spartan face armor, enclosed in the Greek letter omega. I have searched extensively for the meaning of omega in this context, but all I get back are tons of sites selling decals, stickers, t-shirts, and other stuff with the same symbol. Can anyone explain the historical significance of this? This message has been edited. Last edited by: henryaz,

Just to give you a bump so maybe an expert like Oat Action Man will see it, my googling came up with this: http://mythologian.net/omega-symbol-sign-meaning/ So I would venture to guess that in the context of the Spartan helmet on the ring, it symbolizes the ultimate warrior. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.” - John Adams

Ask Dave Truong. Spartans used a Lambda, for Laconia (region) on their shields/armor. Less is more.

I did send a message to Dave also. The shield with lambda is depicted on one side of the ring, and Molon Labe plus a profile view of the helmet on the other side. It is a beautifully designed and crafted ring. On the inside is inscribed the Roman numeral 3, representing the "three percenters", or the three percent of American colonists who actually fought the British in the American Revolution for indepenance. Also 13 stars for the first colonies. Thanks BamaJeepster. I was able to find that more general explanation, and I suspect that is going to be the ultimate answer. But I was also looking for something more specifically relating to the Spartan helmet.
