So I like to buy ammo in the store when I can, although as many of you know often times it’s cheaper to buy it online when you can at least save shipping charges. I’ve had anywhere from 50 to 500 rounds shipped before and have had maybe two or three problems in 15 years doing this.

I’ve rarely dealt with a few damaged individual boxes, though, for some reason lately, I have had three orders come in, and they have all been absolute garbage. Breaches in the outer shipping box, crushed inner boxes, crumpled cracked plastic housings and multiple set-back bullets. my latest two shipments were 1000 rounds and for the life of me I cannot understand why they cannot pad the boxes more. It’s so heavy for the amount of cardboard that it is they come delivered and the outer box is like an accordion.

So essentially what I have now are a couple of big paper weights, and I simply cannot trust this animal to keep any of it to shoot.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with ammo deliveries lately??? I feel like when I go to the store I rarely see damaged boxes, but I am assuming that is because when stores get ammo, they get them all wrapped up on a pallet, and they are more protected then just shipping 500-1000 rounds alone.

It’s aggravating because if I can’t trust the online ammo, then I’m going to end up spending a few more bucks a box locally which does add up, but I don’t see the other choice right now unless anyone knows of a vendor that is very careful with their shipping and packaging.

Call the seller and ask for a refund and return ticket.

Call them. This has happened a few times and they have always paid to have it shipped back as well as immediately shipping a new case. Who is the seller??

I only buy from Georgia Arms and yes this is factory reloads but never had a problem with the ammo and I buy their bulk ammo which usually comes loose in a 30 cal ammo can.

I'll also run to the gun show when it's in town and often have preordered what I need and they, Georgia Arms, have it under the counter,,, but that takes time, parking fee and then entrance fee but is still cheaper than the shipping.

I guess I should’ve already stated yes I have called the seller and I have return labels for my damage shipments. I’m just curious as to whether or not you all have experienced this, how often, and if there are vendors, you know of that this is less prone to happen with.

This year and last, I purchased about a half dozen cases of ammo from Target Sports USA, various calibers, and had zero issues, no damage, nothing.

+1 for SGAmmo, good people and never a problem. I've had questions on an item and contacted them by email, shortly the owner(Sam Gabbert) emailed back and answered my questions. Very good online ammo company.

I order several thousand rounds a month and rarely have issues. Have not noticed any uptick in damage. I only order full cases, though, which I think helps.

I've ordered a lot of ammo online over the last 10-15 years, and have not noticed any particular uptick in problems lately.

Some people apparently just don't know how to pack things for shipping. If you have repeat problems with the same vendor, stop using them.

Another +1 for SGAmmo.
They know how to package the ammo and most times i get it next day.
I will never buy from PSA again. Bought 500rds of FN 5.7 ammo which is what the factory packs in an outer cardboard box with the 10-50rd boxes inside. Not PSA. They throw the outer box away and use clear stretch wrap to bundle up the 10-50rd boxes then drop it loose in an over sized box. About 150 of the 500rds was rolling around loose when it arrived.
Called PSA to see what they would do about the screw up and was told to pound sand. Never again will PSA get any of my money. Don't care what kind of deal they have.

SGAmmo is just off 35 in Okla. and i am about 30 miles off 35 in Texas UPS picks up daily shoots down 35 and to my door next day every time I have ordered.

if the seller packaged it well, or shipped in the orginal cases, then the issue is not the seller but the carrier

fedex and ups have regional issues, Fedex in this area, are decent if you ship express, but ammo goes ground and they struggle ,

ups ground is fantastic here,

however,

if you, for exxample, buy from some company on the west coast, and live on the east, then your package may be kicked about like a can a few times, or not

any issues, let the seller know, and file claims with the carrier,

SGAmmo used to be awesome. Then several years ago they cut off all shipments to CA. They’re likely still awesome, but I wouldn’t know anymore. Frown

I never had a problem with damaged ammunition, but I always bought cases.

I am not a huge customer of Midway. On the few occasions I’ve made purchases, I’ve added some .22’s to make the free shipping requirement. Most recently the 50 rnd boxes were simply tossed in the over sized, under spec shipping carton. Loose ammo all over the box & a hole in the carton. UPS has bullets throughout their shipping chain I guess. No response to my two emails.
SG ammo on the other hand, has always been perfect!
