I’ve been laid off since December. As a pipeline worker it was expected and I was prepared financially. I’ve been working on the yard and fixing up everything that gets neglected when I am on the road for 6+ months at a time. Today I slept in until about 10. I woke up and prepped a Boston butt from one of my pasture raised Tamworth pigs for the smoker. I got the smoker going and had the butt on at about noon. I also put on some burgers from a Black Angus Steer I had butchered. I watched the kids swim in the pond for a few hours while I set in the shade by the smoker. About dusk I put a line in the pond and caught me a catfish, had it cleaned and on the smoker in about 15 minutes. The kids are in the bed now and I’m currently sitting on the porch by the smoker sipping on a little Knob Creek eating catfish and listening to the frogs. I guess tomorrow I will start trying to go back to work but today life is good. I am thankful.

Doesn't get much better than that! Your appreciation for what you have and positive attitude is commendable.

Sounds like a great day!

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Nice to read something like this. Hickok 45 ends every video with this phrase. It is welcome in this day and age.

May you have many more days like it!

Thanks for putting the image in my head, and reminding me to be grateful for all I have.

Sounds like we both had good days.

I just sat in a chair, had a good cigar with some iced tea and watched as 5 mountain sheep worked their way down the hills and into my field to munch on grass. With my faithful Border Colliie laying at my feet.

I agree, life is good.
