I have a job but I don’t know what the right product is to accomplish it. Was hoping the collective brain trust here could steer me towards the right tool.

I need something that is small, handheld, able to stabilize an image while I am moving, and provides azimuth and elevation. Thermal or night vision would be a benefit but not required, magnification is a small benefit but not required. In fact I’m using it for widest field of view possible. Price is not necessarily a limitation, but less than $2000 would be nice. I’ll probably buy 15 of them.

I’ve been searching for Gyro stabilized monoculars and things of that nature because I think it’s closest to accomplishing my intent. However I don’t know anything about brands or quality or if another option might be better. The time frame I need this is in the next few weeks and I would prefer not to spend all of this money on the first item google shows me.

I’m constantly amazed at the nuanced expertise here, and appreciate any help.

I'm not much help to you on the optics side of your project, but I can put you in touch with associates who can help with the stabilization.

Is this similar to your intent? https://youtu.be/s41AKqNSaXU

God bless America.

First place I would look is Vectronix, especially if you want night/thermal.

FLIR has several nice handheld monoculars but it's all thermal image and not really going to give you a clear picture of someone/something. FLIR are the leaders in thermal imaging. Many models to choose from. Here's there website, they also have different sections and other products that might better fit what you're looking for.

Thanks for the advice. To clarify: night vision and thermal is not my priority. I have really great tools there already. The azimuth & elevation in a handheld package is my priority. I didn’t see that feature on any of the FLIR products and it’s the critical part of this request.

Terrapin X has most of that, aside from stabilizing.
