Ford F-250 door noise
So I have a 2020 Ford F-250 SD and love it though noticed recently that the doors all sort of creak toward the middle to end of their opening travel. The rear driver side is actually worse and quite noticeable. I can’t seem to ascertain where it’s coming from and I’m not a mechanic. Was going to inquire at the dealership though figured I’d ask here first.

It’s like a creamy sound like a rocking chair mixed with a clicking sort of sound. Hard to describe. Not sure if maybe it’s the rubber door stop piece or not. I sprayed some Ballistol in there, but nothing changed. Hope that wouldn’t be a bad idea I figured it’s lube so it should be okay. Seems like there is already some white type lithium grease present though maybe it need more? Or maybe silicone spray?

Sound like anything you guys have seen?

Try spraying some silicone spray on the door hinges. Look at them while you move the door, you should see where to spray.

Get the spray can that has a straw with it.

Some will tell you to spray with WD40, white lithium grease, etc, but try the silicone spray first. White lithium grease is really good.

Actually I’m surprised that such a new vehicle has this issue.

Probably a door stop detent. I'll bet if you open and close the door slowly the noise is loudest at one or two points in the travel. Open the door and look at the hinges for something like this.

On a 2020 model I wouldn't expect that roller (if it even uses one) to be worn out, but it could certainly be dry. There are tubes and sticks of grease available so you can get it where you want it instead of 90% of it winding up on the doors, door jambs or the ground.

I’ll look into the door stop detent thanks. And perhaps I will get some silicone spray.

Dry graphite may work too as it won't collect dirt.

Being a brand new truck, you may have a roller that is made wrong.

Open the front door and watch the hinges and detent roller as you have someone open the rear doors. If the detent roller isn't rolling along with the detent arm and spring, hopefully the dealer will replace it under warranty.

Just take it to the dealer. It's under warranty. There might be an updated roller or hinges or something might just need a minor adjustment.
