Half of Detroit's mayoral candidates are convicted felons...

Black marks matter!

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

And it's swirling on the way down the toilet. If it weren't for that third world shit hole, the rest of Michigan could be a decent place. But the Motown and its thug culture, since Coleman Youngs' day has managed to soak up tax dollars and export crime. May it burn to the ground.

The 46-year-old former cosmetologist and salon owner has made past bids for state representative, Detroit’s school board and City Council. Her prior interaction with the criminal justice system, she said, has fueled her desire to seek public office. Simpson said she represents a “new spirit” for Detroit.

“I was a wrongfully convicted felon, overcharged for a crime I did not commit,” said Simpson, a mother of four, who contends the witness in the case “lied on me.”

I like this one! Big Grin

She would be a fine representative of her constituents!

Yet.
As an engineer, I can appreciate this enormous increase in efficiency. Before, it took years and tens of thousands of dollars to convict a Detroit mayor and send them to jail. Now, they're preconvicted...

I was going to address the "wrongfully convicted felon" post of GGF.
But then I saw the "preconvicted" post of tatortodd, and almost spewed on the keyboard.
I guess Detroit gets what it deserves...

I grew up in and around Detroit, Michigan (1942-1960) and it distresses me a lot to witness what has happened to my old home town. Fortunately, after 20 years USAF I decided against returning there and now live in Dallas, Texas. (Yes, some things here bother me, too.)

Flashguy- I feel for you. I have a friend who grew up in Detroit in the 1940's and 1950's. He was my Professor at the Univ of Michigan. I was visiting him, and he pulled up his photo albums from the day he grew up in Detroit, and he explained what a wonderful place Detroit was to grow up in. Then the 1967 riots took place, most good people, both black and white moved out of the City of Detroit, "leaders" like Mayor Coleman Young too over the helm of the City, and everything went to hell in Detroit. And even with Mike Duggan as Mayor, things are not much better. Seeing my friend's photo albums and hearing his stories really made me understand what was lost.

If you think you can, YOU WILL!!!!!
