A group of wealthy Connecticut residents are asking Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont to raise their taxes Opens a New Window. , as the state faces fiscal trouble.

Fair Share CT – the name of the group – is looking to raise the top rate on the wealthiest residents by three percentage points to 9.99 percent. The top rate would apply to individuals earnings more than $2.5 million and couples earning more than $5 million per year.

No need to raise taxes. Nothing is stopping these pieces of shit from mailing in a few million extra if it salves their consciences.

Funny thing is nothing prevents any of those people from stroking a check to the state. They could send as much as they want.

But they want to be 'told' to do so.

Gosh, I am SO impressed!!

(That's the entire point, boys and girls. Be impressed, and be sure to let them know how impressed you are. These people are very, very special you see, and they want you to acknowledge their specialness. That part is very important.)

I grew up there. They were so prosperous at the time, there was no income tax and the sales tax was around 3%.
They actually had a two party system back then.

I' ve been to Connecticut. I've never seen higher prices on everything in any other state. You couldn't pay me enough to live there.

They will continue to raise taxes, NOT even consider to cut any spending and bleed us all dry! Now they are trying to put in tolls on all the roads to make it expensive to even drive to work....fuck this state! I’m due to retire in less than two years and it isn’t even a consideration to stay here....Ct sucks all the way around...it has no redeeming qualities

Born & raised in the greater Hartford area.
Escaped 8-2015.
I realized around 2010 that leaving was a necessity: a small, page 17 type article told that the money cost of Public Service (including pensions & welfare programs)exceeded that of the Private Sectors gross earnings.
Put another way -- It cost more to run the State than what those who were earning were earning.

Four years later, those of my friends who did not already have or recently acquired homes in tax friendly states, have left the 'Constitution State'.

Some well known asshole hedgefund MFer just donated something like $100 million to the state’s Department of Education but the fact of the matter is those who can are moving south. Connecticut is second to Illinois in regards to taxes, deficits, bond ratings, and all the other negative economic indicators.

apparently they're unaware that they can make extra, voluntary contributions whenever they desire, without rasing everyone's taxes.

It's only a matter of time . . .

. . . before they cut costs in their tax office and tell you to simply use Federal tax rates and forms. Kindly cross out "IRS" and write in "CT". Oh, and no deductions for Schedule D losses.

So a tax on small business owners then. Yeah, that will trickle down. Fuck sticks.

Layoffs
Reduced capital expenditures
Less pay for workers
Less employed workers

But, hey, at least the welfare class gets a temporary raise (theoretically), until the rich up and move across the border to (fill in the blank)
