gpbst3Airline price tracking sites/app
Are there any good airline price tracking sites or apps beside the obvious travel sites: Orbitz, Travelocity etc.

tatortoddUnfortunately, there has been a lot of consolidation and one conglomerate has purchased pretty much every site I used to use. The conglomerate calls themselves Expedia group and they own expedia, hotels.com, orbitz, travelocity, hotwire, ebookers, cheaptickets, carrentals.com, trivago, etc. Apparently, they also implemented cost saving measures by taking away the features that made sites unique (e.g. Orbitz) and most of the time it's now the same info and same prices but in different colors.
Also, during COVID the airlines implemented cost cutting measures and took a hard look at why they're giving a cut to a 3rd party (e.g. Orbitz) when they have their own website perfectly capable of selling tickets. I haven't found a deal on a 3rd party website in the past few years.

scratchyI use expedia, travelocity, etc to find flights, and then my experience has been to book airline direct. We never take the cheap, no frills seats.

comet24I used to use a app called Hopper. Haven’t used it since Covid so not sure if it’s still what it was. It would track prices and tell you the best time to buy.
I use Google flights to look up prices but remember they don’t show all airlines like southwest.
When ever possible book directly through the airline once you find the flight you want. Always easier to deal with problems, delays, cancelations, when you book directly with the airline.

Should you do a search and find what you want, the link will take you to that airline's website so, you're booking directly and not through an aggregator or, third-party site like a Travelocity or, Kayak. Google Flights also allows you to track the flights you're interested in as the prices fluctuate.
