Last time I went to a movie was a few years ago. My wife had read a book, really liked it, and wanted to see the movie (not the one being discussed here), so I went with her.

She loved the movie. Me, not so much, so I turned my hearing aids off and had a nice quiet nap. No drama. She got to see the movie and did not have to go alone. I got to sit next to her and ignore what I thought was a boring, piss-poor movie.

After the movie, we went across the street and ate tasty ribs.

I interpreted 400m's post as more of an advisory rather than a movie review.

The original Beetlejuice was pretty good. I think what 400m is trying to convey is that if you were expecting something similar to the original, you are going to be severely disappointed so save your money and don't go.

Never had any interest in the first one so I could care less about a 30 year later sequel trying to milk nostalgia for a buck.

I loved Coming To America but refuse to watch the sequel because I hate how they keep doing this.

With good directors and producers sequels don’t not have to be a bad thing.

The last two Ghostbusters and Top Gun were prime examples of that.
Those 3 films were excellent. With all 3 nearly being as good as the original. I am half tempted to say that Maverick is better than the original. Due to technological advances in filming capabilities.

Being that Beetlejuice is a Burton film and he is still in control of it I am looking forward to it. Not going to se it in the theater but will most certainly be streaming it.

I went to those 50 shades movies with the wife. I thought going in that I would at least get to see a chick get her heiny paddled. Nope.

The wife did suffer through Gods and Generals and didn't even complain at the 2 hour mark intermission.

That's not how the comments were presented.

The Lair was created to take some of the traffic from the Lounge. This topic is acceptable in either section.

There's no harm in this being here. It's not as if it's going to develop into a thirty page thread.

Back to the topic, please.

I thought it was decent, not great. Ortega did a good job, Wynona Rider always fascinates me. I suspect that body is still very much a playground. The older lady, (mother perhaps?) seems to never have aged.

Saw with my daughter. We both enjoyed it. My biggest complaint is Monica Belluci’s character / story arc was weak and I would have liked more of it. Overall not a bad sequel.

Yeah, she's got that "something" that has always really grabbed my attention. Even at 52 (she'll be 53 in a month), she is still sexier than a HUGE lot of gals in the film industry that are half her age! She could sure be MY playground and I wouldn't complain...
