When I needed to transport a car from Dallas to Austin I found a company in Dallas who quoted me a reasonable price which I paid. When the car arrived in Austin the driver also expected to be paid before he would off load. Turns out I was dealing with a broker in Dallas who subcontracted the actual move to a nameless third party.

My recommendation is to only deal with transport services that actually own trucks and do the move themselves.
