I feel sorry for the 2023 graduates today. Here's the speaker line-up:
- Biden, USAFA
- Harris, USMA
- Milley, USNA
Sad way to start a career. One could not fill even the smallest thimble with their collective 'leadership'. I hope they wake each other up at the end of their speeches.

Thought I would watch the USMA graduation...nope.

Do these graduates have the option of skipping the event or is attendance required? I'd most certainly smuggle a flask inside my uniform if I had to sit through that.

What's the read on the guy nominated to replace Milley in October. USAF four star. Is he as squishie as his predecessor?

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas gave the commencement keynote speech at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy graduation on May 17th. 247 new ensigns graduated.

The Coast Guard Academy holds commencement on the third Wednesday of May. They hold the claim of the first woman graduate because the CGA class of 1980 graduated 2 weeks before the others.

So USNA has to suffer through Milley this year…

I was at my nephews graduation at West Point last spring and had to suffer through Milley’s speech. A lot of people liked it because it sounded good but after I got home I picked it apart and posted a bit about it.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

He seemed like he was trying to make some good changes. One of his top priorities for the AF going into that job was cutting down the bureaucracy. I read an article a few years after he took the job In which he said that he had encountered a lot of obstacles in that pursuit which frustrated him.

Mandatory, unless maybe you're in the hospital. Or, you have to go to summer school and graduate at the end of June.

At the end of the graduation ceremony, you're still a cadet (you've only graduated from college). Get observed & caught...well, who knows what might happen. You are not an officer until the swearing-in ceremony (often with your company tactical officer) after graduation and the commissioning paperwork is signed.

Heading to USAFA Graduation next week. Good friends daughter is graduating. I know our friends are as excited as I about Potato giving the address. It's going to be interesting to see the crowd reactions.
