Am considering going from a suv and a truck to just a new truck. Gas mileage is a big issue with me. What truck will give me the best mileage? Lookin at a Chevy or GMC. | ||

Just normal driver or you planning to ever tow? Gas or diesel? 1500 or bigger? I've got a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax and I get 17mpg mix of highway city and 20+ on highway if I keep it under 80. | |||

My 2019 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab short bed LT just got 25.8 MPG on an 800 mile round trip to Huntsville Alabama. I averaged 5-7 MPH over the posted speed limit, except when I got behind two empty cattle haulers on I-40 in Arkansas running at 83 MPH! If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. What’s “good” mileage in your opinion? My 2012 F250 4dr 4X4 long bed w/ 6.2L gas burner gets around 13 running around town, about 15 on the interstate, and 8-9 pulling 22k gross. But it’s also over 6’ tall and weighs 7500lbs with me and my normal daily detritus. | |||

I averaged about 19-21 mpg in my 2016 F150 2wd with the 2.7TT V6 EcoBoost. IIRC I saw around 24mpg coming from Albuquerque to Houston, steady highway. Worst was 8mpg when towing a tall cargo trailer in strong headwinds. 2018 Chevy Silverado Double Cab 4X4 with V6. I just got 24 MPG on a road trip to Sturgeon Bay. and I drive, well, exuberantly! Around town I get about 17 MPG. The truck could stand a little more giddyup, but overall its been a good performer. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles | |||

I have F150 2018 4x4 with 3.5 eco boost. I get 21 mpg in eco mode on the highway. 17-18 around town. This is my 2nd eco boost and love the, There are 3 kinds of people, those that understand numbers and those that don't. | |||

At least you are keeping your options open. Do you like both kinds of music as well, Country and Western? FWIW, I averaged 10mpg with my F350 diesel over the 1,550 miles from Michigan to Florida towing my boat on its tandem axle trailer. The trailer and boat together weigh 9,350lbs. Mostly, 70-75mph. | |||

Read somewhere that the new Ram 1500 MicroDiesel has been driven at 28 MPG or so. Some have gotten 30. Supposedly has a decent amount of giddyap too. | |||

I recently had a Ford Ranger FX4 for a rental. It was nothing short of incredible. It was a land rocket that got amazing gas mileage and with that rear locker it was quite capable off-road, but it was a rental, so I did not take it off road, right? If I had $40K laying around, I would buy one. My whole family liked it. Of course, if you're looking for a full size truck, my apologies if I missed that. Also, I guess the Ranger would not meet your needs. Good luck! | |||

Gas engine only. Very light hauling and no towing. Would like to see at least 25 mpg on the road. I am not a heavy footed take off driver but like to cruise around 75 when possible. Will see dealer Monday and see what they offer for discounts. | |||

I have a 2019 Colorado Redline. That LGZ V-6 with the 8 speed is an amazing engine that delivers more HP than my old 05 F 150 V-8 Lariat ever did. I average 23 mpg as a daily driver with some city but mostly country road driving. If you are holding out for 25 mpg I am not sure where you can go. If it matters, I tow my tractor around occasionally with no problem and fully loaded with a bush hog it weighs well north of 5000 lbs. .....never marry a woman who is mean to your waitress. | |||

24mpg in a full size gas engined truck might be a stretch. Might straight highway, but unlikely in combined driving. Going to a diesel may work, but at added acquisition costs. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

I check my mpg with the onboard computers every tank full on my 2007 Silverado & my "new" 2015 GMC 1500. Both have 5,3L V8s & average 19-20 mpg running around the country/mountainous roads here in central PA. 24 mpg on trips. I'm currently driving a 2008 Ranger. Turbo Legacy Wagon while fun was excruciating to drive around at an avg of 45 MPH on the island, it really wanted to gallop vs trot. MPG is in the mix, along with other priorities. (100,000 miles/16 MPG)* $2.75 = $17,187 /7years = $2455 Per Year (100,000 miles/19 MPG)* $2.75 = $14,473 /7years = $2068 $387 less (100,000 miles/22 MPG)* $2.75 = $12,500 /7years = $1766 $302 less (100,000 miles/25 MPG)* $2.75 = $11,000 /7years = $1571 $195 less | |||
