A good friend of mine and deceased member here, William the Coroner called me one night. He sounded kind of down.

I asked him what he was doing, and he said "walking along a train track looking for pieces of a suicide who stepped in front of a speeding commuter train. Basically, they just turn to mush."

When I asked how much he expected to recover, he said he'd be happy to find enough to fill a grocery shopping bag.

We talked a bit more and the gist was, after a while, it just wears you down.


I've seen someone hit by the Acela train (150MPH). Nothing but pink mist.
