On Netflix I’d recommend the series “Beef”. The first season is better than the second by a long shot IMO but the second season is okay too.

Black Mirror is another great series on Netflix.

Black Mirror is a series of almost completely standalone episodes. There is only one episode in the entire series that is a continuation of a previous episode. Beef is a standalone season and season one has nothing to do with season two so you can watch one without the other and not miss a thing.

If you like abstract comedy skit shows, I Think You Should Leave is hilarious.

We enjoyed the series, saw all seasons, some unrealistic, but entertaining nonetheless

For All Mankind, and Star City on AppleTV.

They are companion series about alternative history if the USSR had beaten the USA to putting a man on the moon. If you like that kind of thing, these series are fun.

For All Mankind is from the American perspective. It deteriorates in later seasons, becoming cliche. The first season is very good. Each season can stand on its own, so you can stop watching without feeling left hanging.

Star City is newly out with one season. It is from the Soviet perspective. The show is not at all kind to the Soviets, and probably accurate in describing living under constant surveillance by an authoritarian government. The very last episode plot, idk what they were thinking. Just ignore the ridiculousness because the rest of even that episode is good.

I just watched the first season, a good mix of action for the average guy. It’s entertainment, no need to overthink it. Yeah, average Navy guys transform into SEALs, just go with it.

It’s got the mix of ‘The Walking Dead’ and a Covid type pandemic, may be to fresh for some.

Again, entertainment.

Note. Really best if you had seen Breaking Bad. (It’s a prequel)

2nd place: Sopranos

BB is on Netflix [I'm rewatching, on season 5], not sure but would assume BCS would be as well.

A lot of the ones mentioned.

I will add Seal Team on Netflix.

David Boreanaz is a very good actor.

I have to add a caveat. Justified is great. Justified- City Primeval is a steaming pile of horse poop. Only redeeming part is the last 10 minutes of the last show involving Boyd Crowder

The Americans [FX, maybe Hulu?]

Bosch [Prime]. I really enjoyed the main series. Legacy was ok, Ballard was pretty good.
Longmire, different to Bosch in that each episode seems to wrap itself up, where Bosch runs a season for the story arc.

Jack Ryan [Prime]

The Night Manager [Prime] Season 1 is excellent, season 2 good but less so

The Crown [Netflix] better than i expected.

I watched The Americans on Netflix I think. If not it was Hulu.

I don't think I saw "The Pitt" mentioned (HBO Max, Hulu, Prime, etc).

Only 2 seasons so far (Season 3 drops in Jan '27) but I found it to be really binge-worthy.

Maybe a bit of self promotion here, but I was interviewed for a true crime series "Fatal First Dates" that is new to Prime. My episode is season one, episode 9 "Shelly Mae". For whatever reason they put my mug as the still pic for the episode, they probably should've put the victim instead.

The series is pretty good if you're a true crime fan. It was an Australian company that produced the show. I was kind of miffed in my episode when they showed my squad cam video they changed both my voice and the suspects voice to something really lame. I can only assume that they had to change the voices because the suspect didn't sign a release.

Hater of fun since 2001!

Very sad and interesting - I grew up in St. Cloud, MN, but now live in Crosslake. Crazy to think about.

I understand not watching Reacher due to the politics of the actor who plays Reacher, but I always try to separate the art from the artist. That said, this season of Reacher.......since when do 2 or 3 guys kick the stuffing out of Reacher? In the novels he can easily handle 3-4 guys....He's just not the same now. My wife and I both thought the series has gone downhill this season.

I'm halfway through and enjoying it. I searched for the books - none at the library and not completely available on prime (used, third party may increase availability but won't buy that). Where did you find all the books? (would prefer original covers, not the TV series covers).

I'm interested in learning more about Arthur / Merlin and the time period. Any suggestions for an overview to get a flavor of key people, events and why (I don't need / want to go 10 levels deep; I just want a cursory overview. Maybe 200-300 pages?).
