Ignorance is nothing new...they simply have a platform now.
The problem is, it's entertainment value to those that value such trash forms of entertainment is keeping it going. Instead it should be seen as described in this video.
You don't have to look far for ignorance, and now you don't have to look far for someone supporting it as a good thing or diversity or whatever you wanna call it.

Occasionally I find myself in a conversation with those from the new generation of vapid, brain dead, paperweight-grade dolts, I struggle to keep from overtly insulting them as I am trying to be a better person.
Case in point- a couple of years back while vacationing in OC Md, I was bored and swam out maybe a 1/4 mile or so to retrieve a clutch of deflated Mylar balloons. I’m a strong swimmer but it was apparently quite the spectacle as the entire beach was captivated by the lifeguard swimming out to check up on me. After coming in and disposing of them, my daughter and I went back out and were soon approached by a very attractive young lady in a zipper top bikini who said “that was really great; you probably, like, saved some penguins or something”. I exchanged a glance with my daughter who I could tell was stifling a smirk. I simply said thanks and returned to body surfing.

People are born with different cognitive potential, and it's sad when people intentionally choose not to turn their potential into capability. Even more pathetic is when they take pride in not knowing. 2 of the 7 deadly sins (sloth and pride) all rolled up in being a dysfunctional moron.
Our nation would have a much brighter future if parents, schools, society, etc emphasized pursuing virtue rather than sin.
