It hurts. An autoimmune condition causing morning stiffness, joint, and muscle pain. On low dose steroids for it now, but still having some symptom break-thru. UGH!!! Most autoimmune diseases are caused by a cross reaction to a pathogen or other substance in the body. I would recommend going on a no sugar/low carb diet and note if symptoms improve. Some persons are very sensitive to gluten, you could try eliminating that for a few weeks as well. If the no sugar/low carb diet makes a notable reduction in symptoms, you have started to narrow down the underlying cause. Next would be to improve the immune system, and monitor changes. -c1steve

Since PMR patients can also get giant cell or temporal arteritis, your doctor should be looking for signs and symptoms of that as well, since the latter condition can potentially cause blindness. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

Steve is right. You’re eating or drinking something that’s not cooperating with your body. ______________________________ DONT TREAD ON ME

sjtill: As we speak. Going to the ophthalmologist in a couple of weeks. 41: Thanks. I have already done a pretty extensive literature review. If you’re an iPhone user you can use mysymptoms to track your food down to the ingredients if you set it up that way. I used it to track my food against my migraines and found onions to be a significant trigger for migraines. When I cut out carbs and processed foods I got rid of acid reflux, arthritis and migraines. It is worth trying.

My Mom had this for a few years. They treated her with steroids. It helps but a friend put her on the anti inflammatory diet. Bone broth and Very few carbs. It seems to go away. _______________________________ 'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but > because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Rheumatoid Arthritis appears to be caused by a reaction to a streptococcus infection that probably starts in the gut. Overtime the bacteria may work it's way through the gut wall, so it becomes systemic. Ankylosing Spondylitis appears to be caused by a reaction to gluten, at least in some persons. They can drink beer, eat lots of no gluten carbs, and they have no symptoms. -c1steve

Glad you are getting some medical evals and treatment. My grandmother had this and my mother and I both have similar autoimmune flares. Diet definitely helps as most have already said. It is painful for sure! Hope you find a plan that works for you and you can get some relief. If it won't matter in 5 years don't give it more than 5 minutes.
