mike28wDentist Requiring Rinsing with Iodine Prior to Treatment
Maxillofacial surgeons have been rinsing patient's mouths with betadine ( it's a version of iodine) and also swabbing their noses for at least 15 years ( before surgery, usually while the patient was asleep.).
There are just a few mouthwashes that are effective against Covid. They contain the chemical cetylpyridhinium chloride ( sorry if I misspelled but I'm close). Hydrogen peroxide is also effective, if you can stand the foaming !
Most of the mouthwashes DO NOT have these chemicals , so you have to be a careful shopper. The two brands that I have found are "Philips Sonicare Breath RX" and "Crest Pro-Health Clinical". There might be others but these work for my wife and I.
BTW.... there is a version of Cepacol lozenges that also has cetylpyridhiniun in them. Again , they are not the common version but can be found if you shop around. Amazon is your friend for shopping for this kind of stuff.

LOL - my cousin was helping her parents move and found a bottle of Mercurochrome in the medicine cabinet. That brought back a lot of childhood memories for all of us cousins.

doublesharpI've been a dentist's office regular while undergoing implants. Since covid there is a rinse required but it is a pleasant tasting mix of Crest mouthwash and peroxide about 50/50. Swish it around for about 30 seconds and spit it out.
I also clean my implants with q-tips soaked in peroxide and rinse with a salt water solution a few times per day.

Because it tastes like shit and iodione stains. If there was no alternative I wouldn't protest. What I am trying to gauge is is it any more effective than Listerine.

Do you blindly do what others tell you to do? I know a shitload more about infectious diseases than any neighborhood dentist and I wouldn't be taking iodine as a rinse.
