That's not "US" and not ever going to actually be a thing; 50kts with a monohull shaped like that? Nope.

I was in the room down near the Washington Navy Yard for this live demo from a US company that IS working on autonomous craft. Small to start but the software is what matters more than the hardware (e.g. easy to scale/port to larger craft).

Also notable us that BAE Systems has been working on the autonomous RHIB for a USG contract for quite some time now.

I am always impressed when India media finds out, and reports on stuff like this before The Navy Times....

It's a proof of concept vehicle, nothing more.

The Navy is far from putting anything remote or autonomous into service for the next several years at the earliest. The closest is NAVAIR's MQ-25 refueling drone which has been continually delayed. Each of the warfare branches have autonomous and drone programs but all of them lack an understanding of how to use them. Much of this is of a lack of imagination amongst various admirals who rose up the ranks by not taking any risk or, allowing a program to show up as a failure, in this case, they just make sure funding is flowing and let someone else come up with an idea of usage.

I don't think that it can operate without a "crew". Unless they have figured out how to get AI to paint, chip, and clean the heads. "Sweepers, sweepers, Man your Brooms. Give the ship a clean sweep".... etc.
