erj_pilotThe Trump Presidency : Year IV
I STRONGLY disagree with your last sentence…
"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne
"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24 July 16, 2023, 07:33 AM

You don't know what you're talking about. You reveal your bias against Donald Trump. You have no objectivity on the matter.
If you actually believe that Donald Trump is that selfish, then nothing you say about the man can be taken seriously. You're flat-out wrong.

I hope I am wrong. I really do. To be clear, if he is the nominee, I will support him and hope he wins. My opinion is no doubt affected by a friend of mine who worked directly for Trump and spoke with him on almost a daily basis while he was running a casino in Atlantic City. Virtually all of Trump's relationships ended very poorly when he left Atlantic City. My friend's opinion of Trump has no doubt affected my objectivity.

Very true. I would point out that you really can't find virtually anyone in AC who had dealings with Trump that has a nice thing to say about him. But I am sure there is another side to the story of all of them.
"The failure of the now president’s five Atlantic City businesses resulted in thousands of job losses and put dozens of local contractors out of business because they were, much like the elephant sculptor, unpaid. Yet, during his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump boasted of how he took “incredible” amounts of money out of Atlantic City, borrowing cash from third parties so his own wealth wasn’t affected by his various businesses going under. According to Rose, his legacy is best reflected by Atlantic City’s 7.4% unemployment rate – nearly double the national average. “When Trump failed with his casinos,” says Rose, “he turned Atlantic City into a ghost town. His legacy still haunts the boardwalk.”
As far as my doubt that Trump would support the Republican nominee if it is not him - I am sure that my opinion is colored by the words of one man - Donald Trump himself. Trump originally said in 2016 that he would support the Republican nominee if it wasn't him, but then promptly changed his mind and said he wouldn't at the first debate.
https://www.npr.org/sections/t...t-republican-nomineeI've already said way too much about this. Like I said, if Trump is the nominee, I will support him. Over and out.

Of course Trump's main goal is to beat Biden, there is no other motivation. The man clearly loves this nation, and sees Biden and those in the Uniparty deep state to be the ones who do not have the country's best interest at heart. If one opines that it is massive ego that drives one to think they may be the only chance for the U.S. to get out of this shit, yes, then Trump has a massive ego. Because it is true.
As far as him "supporting" the Republican nominee, unless something dire happens, it will be Trump, and he knows it, the Republicans know it. If you have been paying attention, DeSantis has been faltering for months, and is basically becoming a non-factor now; big donors are already looking into Tim Scott as possibly the man who can run against Trump. DeSantis' campaign is in a disarray, they can't muster any voter enthusiasm for their candidate, not getting any bump after his announcement. And already Chris Christie, of all people, is closing in on DeSantis in New Hampshire, looking to over take him as the #2 Republican in that state.

They still don't, my brother who worked on various R party offices can't stand Trump, hates him, thinks he is exactly what all the media outlets portray him as and that he'll be convicted for the documents he held in his FL home, wants him gone.
This is the part of the party that are DeSantis allies, imho not as much pro DeSantis as they are anti-Trump.
As much as the man is supported here, and in the rallies he is also hated by many for his persona, and brash commentary.
Love to see him find a way to bridge the divide, for many it's just not possible.
If he could find a way to do so he'd win with 100 million votes.

Yup...I really hated to see otherwise Conservative talk show hosts (pointing at Mike Gallagher, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt, et. al.) in the 2016 election really pour on the disdain and pure hatred for Donald Trump. I was pretty much over Medved at the time and his actions sealed the deal that I would never listen to the tripe that comes outta his mouth ever again. I was sorely disappointed in others, though...

If Trump wins the nomination you can bet that Graham will flip so fast it’ll make the earth wobble on its axis.

Yes, I saw this is a 2016 quote. It’ll repeat itself in 2024.

oddballLindsey Graham is on good terms with Trump, he has wholeheartedly endorsed his 2024 candidacy. He said this earlier this year- "I know the downside of Trump, but let me tell you about the upside of Trump: there are no Trump policies without Trump"
