Stahl: "Can you characterize your supporters?"

Trump: "Yea, I think I can: people who love our country."

Yeah, I noticed the 'fair and contextual reporting part, too, along with 'informative context' (whatever the heck THAT means)(I can only assume they think We, The People are too stupid to understand it without them mansplaining it to us).

This is an absolute GENIUS move. I don't think any other President in the TV era would have had the balls to do this. He cut their legs out from under them, and now, if they try to put the interview 'in context' (presumably editing out the countless interruptions and bouts of rudeness by the interviewer), the Trump people will host videos showing the 'before/after' segments.

Funny as it is, President Trump all but guaranteed that for ONCE, 60 minutes will have a legitimately honest portrayal of a presidential interview. He practically forced them to, which helps explain why they are so mad. 60 minutes will go from producing an anti-Republican hit piece to an honest-to-God impartial piece which will allow the audience to draw its own conclusions.

I wish the biden people would do the same - although, it might be tedious to wade through an hour of slo jo biden trying to string 10 words together for a 30-second segment. . . (not counting all the bathroom breaks, points where he falls asleep, or where his wife comes in to wipe the drool off his chin).

60 Minutes the most watched news program on television

They couldn't even release a one paragraph statement without lying. A quick search shows David Muirs newscast on ABC is the most watched network news program not 60 Minutes.

Meanwhile, Tucker is beating Hannity, whom I've come to despise listening to because of his huge ego. I go out of my way to make sure my cable box is never on Fox during his (Hannity's) show.

I love that Trump released the whole interview.

Great move!

I pray he's as calm tonight as he was in that interview.

Leslie was a complete partisan HACK!!

She -- Like all MSM -- doesn't give a flying f*ck that the Biden family has a credibility and corruption problem.

The White House just released Pence's interview as well.

'This is 60 Minutes': Lesley Stahl says she won't air Trump claims that campaign was spied on and asserts Hunter Biden stories are 'discredited'

https://www.washingtonexaminer...ries-are-discredited

President Trump has released his full interview with 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl, which showed the two jousting over what material ought to be aired.

On Thursday, the president released his full, 35-minute-plus interview with Stahl on social media. The two battled over Trump's stance on masks, rising coronavirus cases, his campaign rallies, and the way Stahl conducted the interview. Stahl warned the president at the start of the interview, asking if he was "ready for some tough questions."

At one point, Stahl said CBS would not air Trump's repeated claim that his campaign was spied on by the Obama administration. "The biggest scandal was when they spied on my campaign. They spied on my campaign, Lesley," Trump said. "There's no real evidence of that," Stahl replied.

"Of course there is. It's all over the place. Lesley, they spied on my campaign, and they got caught," Trump continued. Stahl told the president she couldn't air the segment of the interview because they couldn't verify Trump's claim. "Can I say something? You know, this is 60 Minutes. And we can't put on things we can't verify," she said.

The two discussed unearthed emails from a laptop and hard drive allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Trump argued the news is "very important" as to whether or not Joe Biden engaged in corrupt behavior with his son Hunter, but Stahl claimed investigations show the allegations to be "discredited."

"All these things have been investigated and discredited," Stahl said, but Trump fired back. "It's incredible the way you can try and say this, sit there and look me in the eye and say it." Stahl said the materials on the laptop, which have been reported on, can't be verified.

Joe Biden has called reporting on the materials a "smear campaign," though neither he nor his son has denied the authenticity of the computer materials.

Trump argued that the press is "discrediting itself" based on the way media has reported on the materials.

"You're trying to discredit us," Stahl said. "No," Trump said. "You're discrediting yourself, Lesley."

Earlier in the interview, Stahl asked the president about the rising number of coronavirus cases and increased unemployment numbers as a consequence of shutdowns. "It's like the gods have suddenly decided to conspire against you," she said. Trump rejected the characterization, asserting his administration has reacted well to the virus, pointing to high testing numbers. "We have turned the corner. We have turned the corner," Trump said of the pandemic.

CBS called the president's release of the interview "unprecedented," but they plan to proceed with airing their interview of both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

"The White House’s unprecedented decision to disregard their agreement with CBS News and release their footage will not deter 60 MINUTES from providing its full, fair and contextual reporting which presidents have participated in for decades," the statement reads. "Few journalists have the presidential interview experience Lesley Stahl has delivered over her decades as one of the premier correspondents in America and we look forward to audiences seeing her third interview with President Trump and subsequent interview

So, Leslie accused the POUTUS and VP if they were Stahling and manipulating the interview?

Handing 60 Minutes their ass in under 60 minutes with no commercial interruptions.

Where is that subscribe button? I wanna smash it!

Exactly who discredited those claims? Someone in the Dem. camp who just said so, or what? I'd like to know if "60 Minutes" has really investigated that story so soon.

I listened to a few minutes of that 60 minutes interview (about all I could stand), and thank god I don't have to participate in dialog with people as stupid as Leslie Stahl. The woman knows nothing, truly nothing, and is arrogant about being ignorant. Good on Trump for releasing the entire interview and throwing this garbage at CBS into a tailspin.

And as far as that 'most watched' news nonsense, that's only if you're still consuming news from the dinosaur media. Most of us have moved onto the web and internet news sources, rendering Leslie and her ilk all but irrelevant relics.

I propose a new word/term: "Newssplaining".

Newssplain v. To explain things condescendingly to your "news" audience under the assumption they're either too stupid or ignorant to figure out for themselves what it means, or in the fear they are not too stupid or ignorant to do so.
