I hope that he had an iPhone. Even the FBI can’t crack it.

Just FYI, androids are typically harder to crack into than an iPhone.

Donald Trump has learned how to play the game.

https://x.com/amuse/status/1856902812971487736

If you were listening closely you might have heard Trump mention a 'secret' he had with Speaker Johnson. It is abundantly clear that if Trump wants to put his dream team together he's going to need to make a BUNCH of recess appointments. The Senate is unlikely to agree to adjourn so he can use his authority to adjourn both chambers as long as Johnson cooperates. Is that the 'secret' Trump mentioned?

Under Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, the President has the authority to adjourn Congress in the case of a disagreement between the House and Senate over the time of adjournment. It's a power that has never been used, and its scope remains relatively untested. Here’s a quick summary of the conditions that would be needed:

One House Must Request Adjournment:

One of the chambers (in this case, likely the House of Representatives, led by Speaker Johnson) would formally seek to adjourn.

The Other House Must Refuse: The other chamber (in this scenario, the Senate) must then refuse to agree to this request. If this condition is met, it opens the door for the President to step in and resolve the disagreement by adjourning both chambers.

Once Congress is adjourned, the President could use the recess to make "recess appointments" under Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution. This would allow Trump to install his preferred Cabinet members without Senate confirmation.

That seems pretty unlikely to me. What apts. is the senate unlikely to approve?

Matt Gaetz has made a lot of enemies, both Democrat and Republican.

I heard some talk about that earlier. Such a move would definitely test Thune and the Republican Senators. Will they hold a grudge for taking away their responsibility of advice and consent? Or will they continue to work with the President on passing his agenda? No doubt some Senators will get bent out of shape if Trump and Johnson move ahead on this.

Well, fuck 'em if they can't take a joke I say.

And yeah, enough Rep Senators have already said Gaetz is a no go. Gaetz is probably more hated in DC than Trump.

Like Gaetz or not. I would think Pres. elect. knew he could get him confirmed. Probably part of the negotiations to give Thune the job. Just a guess.

President Trump did not control the vote to get Thune the job, nor does he control the votes of the Republican Senators.

I doubt that Gaetz could get confirmed on a straight vote, therefore, President Trump is using a provision in the Constitution which will allow this appointment of Gaetz. If you want to see a failure, try to confirm Gaetz via the normal process.

I would love to be wrong about this, but...

Again, my cloudy crystal ball. But "if" Gaetz does not get confirmed Pres. elect. will go to another appointee. I am sure he has a very strong plan B. It is not going to be AOC deal. Of course I could be wrong. Razz

Initially, I was uncertain about the choice of JD Vance as VP.

I was wrong.

I guess Trump is smarter than me.

Have faith, patience, and enjoy the show.

We know what Senators are going to vote against Trump. I want to see what the House will do. Let them put their names on a list so they make it easy on us. Lets see how safe their seats are if they dont show some loyalty. You know damn well if they dont have Trumps endorsement next cycle they are probably s.o.l.

Dont forget the SCOTUS ruling against Obama in 2014 on recess appointments, they ruled against him. Its not a straightfoward process at all.

Interesting competition going on for WH Press Secretary job. Jennings would be awesome.

CNN’s Scott Jennings Reportedly ‘Vying’ to Be Trump’s Press Secretary

Isaac Schorr | Nov 13th, 2024

CNN political commentator Scott Jennings is reportedly among those vying to be President-elect Donald Trump’s press secretary.

According to Axios, the competition to represent the incoming administration is “fierce,” with Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt, legal spokeswoman Alina Habba, and former Trump administration official and former Fox News personality Monica Crowley all making their case.

Ex-ESPN host Sage Steele, Jennings — who previously worked in the Bush White House — and RNC spokeswoman Elizabeth Pipko “are also vying for the role,” per Axios.

Despite being critical of Trump after the end of his presidency and during the 2024 Republican presidential primary, Jennings emerged as one of the former and future president’s most reliable and impassioned advocates on cable news during the last few months of the general election, riling up his CNN colleagues and delighting conservative onlookers.

Last Wednesday, Jennings called Trump’s victory a “a big deal,” and “mandate” to implement his agenda.

“This isn’t backing into the office. This is a mandate to do what you said you were going to do. Get the economy working again for regular working-class Americans. Fix immigration. Try to get crime under control. Try to reduce the chaos in the world. This is a mandate from the American people to do that. I think I’m interpreting the results tonight as the revenge of just a regular old working-class American,” he argued.

“I also feel like this election, as we sit here and pore over this tonight, is something of an indictment of the political information complex,” continued Jennings. “I mean, we’ve been sitting around it for the last couple of weeks, and the story that was portrayed was not true. And we were told Puerto Rico was going to change election. Liz Cheney, Nikki Haley voters, women lying to their husbands. Before that, it was Tim Walz and the camo hats. Night after night after night. We were told all these things and gimmicks were going to somehow push Harris over the line, and we were just ignoring the fundamentals.”

According to Mediaite’s Diana Falzone, Habba has emerged as the early frontrunner for the role, though no decision has been made yet.
