Without a doubt. Unfortunately, that is probably more true today than ever in terms of the serious effects they can have because we’re not talking about minor misdemeanors like eating forbidden frogs (which was probably based on someone’s public health concerns). Every now and then The Wall Street Journal discusses the continuous proliferation of laws and how it’s almost impossible for people in certain industries to avoid breaking many of them—sometimes because they’re contradictory. As Edmund Burke pointed out, “Bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny,” but the people who make them seem to be little concerned about the fact. ► 6.4/93.6 “ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.” — Immanuel Kant

Before you lob that snowball at your sister, stop and think! Have you taken the required snowball training? Do you have a valid snowball license? Have you obtained a snowball fight permit? Are you both wearing DOS (Dept of Snowball) approved helmets? Have you exceeded the snowball size and quantity limits?

I have mixed feelings on this one. Granted, the law was stupid and needed to be changed. So I am definitely pro in that regard. On the con side, are communities now taking direction on laws from 3rd graders? It's bad enough we have High School students that think and seem to be working hard to change a world into whatever their current vision is, do we need elementary school students doing the same? Brings back a memory of me as a kid. Perfect snowball making snow and a police car cruised by me on a residential street. Splat! Right in the middle of the back window. He looked at me. I looked at him. I swear he grinned as he put the patrol car in reverse and backed up towards me. I didn’t stick around to see if he really did think it was funny, but he didn’t chase after me. Sure glad it’s a good memory _______________________________________________________ despite them

OMG I'd almost forgotten about this one. I was at my buddies house, and we were being bad and throwing snowballs at passing big trucks. He tells me he has the next one, hears it coming, pops over the bank throws and yells "OH SHIT" as he dives back behind the snow bank with me. He was . Then I hear a door open and I I hear his name called in a commanding tone followed by "GET OUT HERE". He stands up and starts apologizing profusely. Then I hear "if you'd hit my cigar you'd really be in trouble" I KNEW WHO IT WAS! A cop!!!!! This officer knew us, we went to school with his kids. He smoked cigars and often drove around with the front windows down. The snowball went right through the car and just missed the lit cigar in his mouth. He was so amazed the we didn't hit him, or his cigar, or the inside fo the car that he let him off with a "nice throw.... don't let me EVER see you do that again" Pronoun: His Royal Highness and benevolent Majesty of all he surveys 343 - Never Forget Its better to be Pavlov's dog than Schrodinger's cat There are three types of mistakes; Those you learn from, those you suffer from, and those you don't survive.
