I wanted to share this video of my nephew Anderson, meeting his idol, Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens. Last year as Anderson’s mom was dying of cancer she promised she would do everything she could to make his dream come true. Unfortunately, she passed away before that could happen but through some very kind and generous friends we were able to arrange a visit to the morning skate. As you can see in the video, Carey Price was a class act not only giving Anderson two signed sticks, a signed puck, signing his jersey and mini stick but he also gave him the biggest hug. Words cannot describe how much this meant to Anderson and we are forever grateful to this wonderful man.

Hockey players are some of the nicest pro sports players around.
I can't recall any players ever refusing a request like this and quite a few of them do this outside of the public eye.
Props to Price for easing the little boy's pain.

That is terrific.
I’m a hockey fan, and now I’m a Big Carey Price fan as well. Very classy.

So true!
I don't want to give out too much personal information, but in the late 1960's my father did some work for Bobby Hull. They finished up very late at my father's office, and in addition to thanking my father, Hull asked if there was anything else he could do for him.
The only thing my father asked was if Hull would talk to my younger brothers by phone, and according to Dad, Hull's eyes lit up with pleasure at the request. Hull loved kids.

Yup. When I lived in Pittsburgh a few of the penguins players lived in my building. They were always super nice guys. Most of them were Canadian. I think it has to do with the way they were brought up. To make it to that level in hockey it takes a lot of commitment from the players and their families. It takes dedicated parents to be up at 4am before school with your kid getting ice time. I think that sort of upbringing churns our some solid humans.

Thanks for posting...we need more of that, and less of so much of the other crap going on in our country today.

Hockey players as a whole are far and away the best people in pro sports. Big part of the reason why hickey has become my favorite sport and the NFL can kiss my ass.

That's awesome...
It's true - my first interactions with a professional sports player was a player on the Czech national team a few years ago. They visited our local minor league team for an exhibition game. One of the pucks nearly hit us and the player came up into the stands and made sure we were ok. He also gave us sticks and pucks to take home.

Totally agree. Look up NHL players on youtube doing cool things for fans. There are a ton of them.

Very cool. He also gave him a stick from morning skate, too bad it wasn't a game used one, but what an awesome momento. I'm sure it will be hanging on that kids wall for years or decades to come.

I saw that feature the other night on MSNBC between periods. I like Carey Price, but can't stand the Canadians, eh? Really, REALLY nice gesture he did for that little boy...I'm sure he'll remember it for the rest of his life.

This is pretty common for hockey players & teams.
Mitch Marner of the Maple Leafs recently celebrated a 7 y/o girl's birthday with cake & a hug. He first met the little girl in 2015 as a junior player for the London Knights when the team toured a hospital. She had been diagnosed with leukemia at 22 months. Through the years Marner has shown love & support to her & her family.
