Looks to me as if you solve one problem and encounter another one. I'm using an ad blocker plug-in for the Safari browser, Mac OS X. It certainly makes some websites easier to deal with. But, it introduces a different problem. I clicked on a news link in a posing on this forum, and the website produced a message box: "We noticed that you're using an ad blocker." It went on to whine about it, and the message obscured the web page. Do any of y'all know of a browser / ad blocker combination that will work to keep the ad content down, and not be blocked by an ad blocker blocker? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

If it's a reputable page, I usually white list it and allow their ads. It's a fair deal. If I don't care enough to do that, I move on. ![]()

I don't use apple but the ad blockers I have used with Firefox have had an easy way to toggle the blocker off and on when going to a website. For ublocker, an icon is added to the shortcut bar to access the blockers controls. From there I can turn the blocker on or off for the current page. Once turning it off though, you may have to reload the page.

UPDATE: I found a workaround, at least for the site that I tried it on. Safari has a "Reader Mode." You can click on it from the "View" drop-down menu, or there is a keyboard shortcut: Shift-Command-R. I assume that in the Windows version it would be Shift-Control-R, but I did not verify this, as I don't use Windows for web browsing. The website that I tested the work-around on, is the link in this forum post: https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...0601935/m/7640093824 הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I will pause the Adblocker and then turn it back on after viewing or whitelist it. Seems to work okay for the time being.

When I encounter that, I turn off adblocker for that site and refresh the page or click back in. Soon as I click back in, I turn on adblocker again. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Yes, uBlock Origin (not to be confused with uBlock) can block most ad blocker blockers as well as promoted Tweets on Twitter. (I wouldn't know about Facebook.) uBlock Origin is more than an ad blocker. I've seen it described as a "router for your browser" while GitHub is using this description: "uBlock Origin is NOT an `ad blocker': it is a wide-spectrum blocker -- which happens to be able to function as a mere "ad blocker". Being more than a "mere ad blocker", it is highly configurable, which makes it a bit more complicated to setup than "mere ad blockers". (That's wording I would have used on some of my programs.) ![]() However, if these simple instructions are followed, my setup can be easily duplicated: 1) Disable (not uninstall) any current ad / tracking blockers 2) Of course install and enable uBlock Origin 3) A "u" with inside a shield should appear on your browser's toolbar. 4) Left click on uBlock Origins toolbar icon (the "u"), and a popup should appear 5) Left click on the "gears" icon to "Open the dashboard" - Screen capture of steps 4 and 5: ![]() (Whoa! 7.9 million ads and trackers have been blocked, just on my desktop.) 6) A new tab will then open displaying the dashboard. I truncated the lower portion of the dashboard, but these are the filters that I use: ![]() The "Anti Adblock Killer" by Reek is what blocks those "We notice that you using an ad blocker" messages. As for the "51 out of 60" type messages to the right of the filters, I don't know what those means. I also don't know what "Purge all caches" does. I just purge my caches when I think about, and that seems to work fine. ![]() As with "mere ad blockers" and tracking blockers, a few websites will not work with uBlock Origin's filters. I just white list those sites of course. (Most of the few problems I've encountered were with financial websites and health portals.) If uBlock Origin causes problems, just disable and uninstall it and enable the ad blockers you were using before. (V-Tail may not need my detailed instructions, but I thought that others might.) Edited to add: uBlock Origin has been released for Safari. However, I do not use Safari. I have had no unusual problems using uBlock Origin with Firefox, Chrome, and Opera. It's a good idea to white list SIG forum. Google Analytics is the only "tracking" software being run here, and more known readers will bump up SIG forum in Google's search results.

uBlock Origin for the Mac is now available for Safari from the Safari Extensions gallery. I love it. I used to use the beta, but now it is in full release.

When I come across a website that blocks me I simply leave the page. If its something I really want to read I can usually search and find another article.

I have been using Brave for years. Extremely happy with it. It is available in the Apple Store for IOS. Has a very robust ad blocker, and you can permit any site without it affecting any of your other choices for other sites. And it's a simple "off/on" for any site. Often, but not always, the blurb has a 'continue without supporting' link buried somewhere in the text of the message. If so, you can click there to see the site. Annoying, but manageable, in those cases.
