How to search records to find out if someone has died ?
Years ago I think you could access the Social Security death records directly. But now that doesn't seem to work.

I see genealogy sites that claim they can access the Soc Security data. Are any of these legit ?

I am trying to clear up some old property records and am sure a person listed has passed away, but I may have to show something to prove it.

Call the county court register of deeds wher he used to live and request a copy of the death certificate.

Some places have their stuff online, some don’t...a phone call will get you going

Today many folks opt to not print obits, the cost is huge, papers charge big bucks per letter, you might find it on a funeral home web page you can search obits on Legacy
