Yep. Just make sure you have enough drawer (or drawers) that is tall enough to accommodate the height of the trays.

Clips and rails work for me, but I admit I hardly use my tools anymore.

Thought about one of these for my loose stuff as there are no defined sizes or pre spaced pegs and will hold sockets firmly even upside down. Unfortunately, this is another space eater at almost 20 inches long.

I figure between all 3 drives, 6 & 12 point, chrome and impact sockets I will likely have a metric drawer and a SAE drawer since my box doesn't have a full width drawer for everything.
I'm glad my guns don't accumulate this fast....

I *think* mine are Craftsman but it's been too many years since they were bought. In AZ heat, I wouldn't buy plastic.

The craftsman plastic rails hold up extremely well in the AZ heat. For decades. No problem.

That's my issue. I have some snap on branded vertical ones, and then I tried the harbor freight...essentially a cheaper version of the Hansen. They don't fit my drawer.

For the most part I've ended up using these from snap on:


They work pretty good in the drawer, but the magnet isn't good enough to use that handle to carry the sockets around. If I'm careful, I can pick up the tray horizontally and carry it to a work station.

I need more of them.... I've only got my 1/4" stuff organized in them. 1/4" sockets are what I use 90% of the time though.

Since my main sockets never leave the garage, I've used these for years. I have some other box sets that travel. I use metal rails like this style if traveling those becomes necessary.

I think mine are Craftsman. Regardless they at least 30 years old. Metal strips with clips for each socket featuring angled handles in different colors with the type/size of sockets held labeled in raised letters.

Found an online picture of the type although my handles have a sharper angle:

Steel socket rails bolted with machine screws to a piece of thin plywood resting under the flip up top of my ancient roll-away.

I did some research for my socket drawer organization recently and decided to go with the Ernst Twist-Lock trays. The socket sticks are available in 2, 3 or 4 sticks conventional trays or with magnetic mounts; and in 13" or 16" length.

I also looks at the Hansens, the China Freight "Hansens", and pretty much every option on Amazon. I decided on the Ernst because I gave the organization flexibility, easy on/off from the Twist-Lock, ability easily pull a stick off the tray and comes with size labels. I haven't place the label on yet as I am still trying different organization schemes.

I bought a cheapo socket set from Harbor Freight. I dumped those sockets into a bag and replaced with my USA made Craftsman set. Cost me $5.00 and I have extra sockets.

Bought some of the cheap metal clip rails as a get me by until I can decide what is next. I HATE these damn things. Cut 2 fingers, trying to slide those little razor blades on the rails and they don't hold the sockets well or set level on a drawer. And 15 clips in 1/4" leaves half the rail empty.
I will be looking for cheap Hansen trays ASAP. Looked at the harbor freight item and I should have bought those, but... I'm a cheap bastard I guess.

If you are just leaving them in the tool box the plastic organizers with the pegs work great. That is not a bad deal on Amazon for the Hansen set and you can get them at Harbor Freight. The magnetic flat plastic ones work okay for 3/8" and 1/4" but as noted above you have to carry them flat to avoid spilling. Years back I bought the rail and clips from Snap On and they worked but I would not say the best. They are alright if you kind of know what you need on the job site but taking a whole rail full of them is marginal.
