Oh my lord. I thought it was a leaf chunk stuck in the web, but my buddy said it is connected, and is the spider. Obviously I told him to burn down his house and repent for his sins.

...and I can't believe I opened the thread. Photos like that pop into my head every time I run into a web out in the yard. Collecting dust.

Wait, what? |
Just another harmless orb weaver. They are about the size of the average pinky nail which makes it easy to blunder into their webs because they don’t stand out well against the background. I’ve plowed through my fair share of them walking, or cutting the grass. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

During hunting season, they build them at face level across the trail you are using to get to your stand. Not at knee level. And not above your head. Right at face level. And they sit in the middle of the web. So when you are trying to be quiet, you walk into them and feel the grape-sized spider on your face. And your screaming and ripping at your clothing alerts every animal in a 30 mile radius. _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum. May be an orb weaver, but assuredly an arachnope “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

I ride mountain bike. In the east. This is why I try not to be the first person on the trail for the day. Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet. - Dave Barry "Never go through life saying 'I should have'..." - quote from the 9/11 Boatlift Story (thanks, sdy for posting it)

In the southeast we have "Banana Spiders" or golden orb weavers. The are large spiders with a leg span almost the size of your palm and their web is almost ALWAYS at eye level. The silk is surprisingly strong for how thin it is. Though they are venomous, their venom is weak to humans. As kids we used to catch them and play with them, then release them in our yards. I have seen dirtbike riders crash when running into their webs on the trails. Not because of the webs are so strong but because the riders usually scream like 8 yeard old girls. https://www.reddit.com/r/nope/..._from_south_florida/ Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force, but through persistence. -Ovid NRA Life Member NRA Certified Basic Pistol Instructor

Orb weavr spiders should be encouraged around your home. They catch and eat thousands of flies and other bugs, and they are essentially harmless to humans. Not only that, they are surprisingly pretty. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Good spider. Leave it alone. Less mosquitoes and other really annoying bugs is a good thing -.---.----.. -.---.----.. -.---.----.. It seems to me that any law that is not enforced and can't be enforced weakens all other laws.

Did anybody check out the other videos from Rotndad's link? This reminds me of a village latrine we were supposed to use somewhere on a deployment in Panama. I'd let a turd roll out my leg first. https://www.reddit.com/r/nope/...are&utm_medium=web2x Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus
