Ever had a creep follow you when you were a kid?

400mEver had a creep follow you when you were a kid?
I remember walking home from school by myself one day. I was probably in 4th grade so roughly 1982. It was about a mile walk in Oswego Il.
Some scumbag in a green piece of shit started following me. The first time he passed I barely noticed except he was looking at me and driving a bit slow. The second pass was when I knew something was up and I was gonna have to loose him. No way in hell I’m gonna let some freak try and grab me.
I know this sounds like bullshit but not only was it creepy, it was kind of funny at the same time. There was no way this guy was gonna be able to keep up with me because we knew almost every back yard in the subdivision. As he got close to me the third time I made a turn onto a side street, too late for him to turn. He was going to have to turn around. When he passed up the side street and got out of sight, I turned around, ran the opposite way and started hopping fences.
I made it home without seeing him again and my mom called the police. Yeah it was exhilarating but still really creepy. I’m glad I didn’t have any smaller kids with me. I’d have had to hide out in someone’s back yard if that was the case. There were a lot of latchkey kids back then and I wasn’t gonna waste time knocking on someone’s door.
I never saw him again nor did I ever hear anything more about it. I sure did learn to pay attention when walking though.

Sig2340As a toddler living in Las Vegas, there was a known child molester who threatened the kids on the block where we lived.
At that time, my father was the Chief Water Engineer for the city of North Las Vegas, so the guys who owned and ran the casinos knew him well (he had sway on any expansion of their casinos), knew of the threat, and so, per my parents the Mob provided a crew to guard the kids for the few weeks it took to find that sick fucker and disappear him.

irreverentMore than once. One of the more memorable times was when I was walking back from a delivery job and no kidding, a guy in a Cadillac with big gold chains around his neck pulled up next to me, threw the car door open and said, “ do you wanna go for a ride?” I told him I had to get back to work. I was 16? My dad flew out the door looking for this creep when I walked in and told him what happened. Broad daylight, busy street.
Maybe because I was a girl, maybe because it was the 80s, they didn’t try and mug me. Guys would just pull up alongside me walking somewhere in a decent neighborhood and ask me to get in “to go party”.
I think the worst scare was when I was driving to my boyfriend’s really late/early one night in a questionable neighborhood and I pulled up to an empty intersection with a red stoplight - a white van pulled up behind me from nowhere and rammed me into the intersection. I gunned it instead of getting out to check the damage.
And there was one that wasn’t necessarily so creepy except for the fact that I didn’t know he when was watching me.. I came out from my boyfriend’s one morning really early to make it home before my folks woke up… and there was a note on my car..from a guy who’d been politely stalking me for weeks..wanted to meet up.
So, maybe by kid you mean under 12, but I really “felt” like a kid when this stuff happened to me. And I was pushing college age when the stalker was leaving notes. I was very lucky to not get into serious danger- these weren’t the only occasions - just ones of note. I was very naive and trusting, and just assumed people would take no for no.
Moral of the story, gentlemen, watch your girls - and boys. This was around the era that Jacob Wetterling was stolen.
I never called the cops on any of this.

92fstechWe had a couple of perverts in the little town south of Prague where I lived from the age of 9-12.
There was one guy in his 40s who claimed to be studying to be a Catholic priest who kept trying to get us to go home with him. He never tried to grab any of us off the street or anything like that, but he was persistent and would follow us around. I remember having to run home from school a couple of times because he was following me.
Another time a buddy and I were playing in the woods behind his house. There was a pretty steep gully with a road at the bottom and some cliffs that we would climb. One day some older teenage dude showed up and tried to convince us to take our pants off. When we refused he grabbed my arms, so I poked him in the eyes and kicked him in the nuts, and when he let go we jumped on our bikes and took off. It was steep uphill back to my buddy's house, and we had to jump off and push the bikes for some of it so I was worried he was going to catch up to us, but he wasn't very fast. Right as we rounded the corner by my buddy's house we stumbled upon the creepy wannabe Catholic priest guy and we told him this dude was chasing us. He headed off in that direction, and we got inside my buddy's house and locked the door.
Our parents were pretty freaked out about that one and we weren't allowed to play in the woods for a while, and my dad finally cornered the priest dude and had a talk...didn't have any problems with him after that. Never did see that teenager again...whatever happened between him and the creepy "priest" must have scared him off.

c1steveNo, but just got through having a similar problem, and I am in retirement age. Been swimming for exercise in a local Masters Swim program. It has been great, except there is one homosexual on the team who kept following me around, staring at me. He only uses the club for social contact, as he swims 10-15 minutes a day at the end of the pool, never does a workout.
Often I would run out of the locker room AFAP, because I don't like being stared at. When leaving quickly I would sometimes leave some thing behind, such as a swimsuit. The homo then stole my gear, whatever it was. So far he has stolen 3 swimsuits, two pairs of goggles, two nylon swim caps, one insulated cap, and a pair of quality sandals. This is about $300 worth.
Anyways, the matter has been escalating and I was getting near zero help from the team coach. I made a complaint to one of the elected officers of the club, and was chastised for complaining, so I quit two weeks ago. In the past someone like that would have been shown the door very quickly, but apparently now homos are protected species. A very good Masters club otherwise, but incredibly unprofessional in this important matter.

400mIrreverent I remember watching a documentary about the Wetterling boy. I lived just a few miles down the road from Naperville Il when Jeanine Nicarico was taken from her home in 1983.

pbslingerI was at a mall looking at something and a creep walks up next to me and grabs my butt. I went to another store and he followed me. I left that store and went into another that had an exit to the parking lot. I sprinted through the store and out the door to my brother's car and hid. I saw the creep come out the door looking for me. I stayed in the car until my brother came out. Funny to think of the days of not locking cars and I just got in when my brother had the keys.

MelissaDallasWhen my sister and I were walking home from grade school there was a weenie wagger at the curb in his car. He had to have been disappointed because we laughed at him having it flopped out like that. We thought it was the stupidest most ridiculous thing we ever saw. Certainly didn’t scare us. Doctor/Nurses family kids are pretty matter of fact about anatomical stuff…

GibbLived in a low income area as a young kid (1st grade). Walking to the jungle gym at the 'park', I was approached by a van and asked to help find a puppy.
It was a black van with a round window in the back corner. I think it had brown pinstripes, might have been gold though.
Told my mother about it, cops were called and a report filed. They said it was reported by others as well, but have not been able to locate the van.
I never heard any updates from it.
I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself. May 23, 2025, 07:58 AM
4MUL8RMy bus stop was 1.1 miles from my home. I walked frequently as my mom was always selling houses after people's work hours.
One day a nice man offered me a ride home. He reminded me of those stereotypical movie characters like Michael Douglas in "Falling Down" or Drew Carey's initial comic persona. Nice but something different.
I took the ride, but carefully had him drop me off pretty far from my home, and I walked the rest of the way. In retrospect, I was in ID10T.
