looks like it been a while.... lets discuss a new "throne" ...toilets
About to start a bathroom remodel. I currently have a wonderful early 1960's "aqua" American Standard, great old school drain the pond 6gal tank. have a "pinkish" one in the other bathroom. I really hate to get rid of them...the wife has different plans...
wife and kids don't believe in using 4 squares, they more a 4 hand wrap toilet paper users (drives me nuts)
who do we like now days. Kohler, American Standard, Toto. really only seems to be 3 or 4 actual manufqcturers

I'll keep my 1970 Kohler elongated beast thank you. Remodeled to one of the newer "efficient" models in another house about 25 years ago. Damn thing clogged all the time.

I put Kohler Cimarron toilets in both our bathrooms about 5 years ago. 1.28 gallons per flush. Those things will swallow anything. I could have shoveled the evacuation of a horse in there and it would have gone right down. They were about $225 at Lowe's back then and not much higher now. Four to Six gallons of water per flush is needless waste. It is true that some of the early low water consumption toilets didn't work very well but times have changed.

And I replaced both our 1994 builder installed Mansfields with American Standard Champion ADA height models two years ago. Couldn’t be happier at the time they were about $225 at Home Depot.

Yeah, my bathroom was remodeled back in 2005 or 2006 and the new toilet clogs a lot. It’s the way the tank limits the amount of water used per flush. I want to replace it with one of those power flush models that use some sort of pressure.

I broke the bank on 3 Toto Carlyle IIs at around $800/ea.
Mainly because Toto and also for the one piece, fully skirted design. Easy to keep clean.

Same here. Installed three of these in our new house replacing the builder grade crap. Well worth the time and $.

When I do my master bath reno I’m totally putting in a full bore, ass massaging Toto washlet. Only the king and queen get such a throne.
Make sure it’s a “comfort height” throne otherwise sitting on it is like trying to dock a Zeppelin.

Our bathrooms came with ADA-compliant Crane Plumbing "Clog-o-matic" models which choke on everything. I think the real issue is the shape of the S-Trap. I do not recommend.
I replaced the Crane in the MBath with an ADA Toto and we love it. The shape of the trap is much different than the Crane.

I replaced the two high use toilets in my house as they were constantly needing plunged or snaked, but left the other 2 rarely used builders grade toilets. I installed American Standard Champion 4 (i.e. the one they used to advertise flushing 18 golf balls) after a friend's recommendation.
5 years and zero plungings or snakings. Nice change from weekly.
I'd buy again.

A couple years ago I bought my house from an Asian family. The master had a toilet and a separate standalone bidet. Immediately my wife and I planned on how we would eventually get rid of it. Over time I started using it. Unlike the retro add on types, this one has warm and cold water which I think is essential. Now I would never willingly give it up.This message has been edited. In the past few years I put in 2 American Std thrones. They were the $220 or so models. Both cracked. One got spiral cracks in the bowl. The other cracked at the lip if the bowl. One was bad at handling a large loaf in the bowl outlet, or two that wedged in the outlet.
