Apparently they hard barbed wire barricades around certain parts of the EU Parliament building on Monday, they knew they were coming. Right, you need barbed wire barricades to enforce democracy! Europe was never meant to have a “one ring to rule them all” form of government. Previous attempts under Charlemagne (Holy Roman Empire), Napoleon (French Empire), and a Charlie Chaplin mustache-looking fellow, all came a cropper in the end. If you want to know what real diversity looks like and to where it’ll lead, look no further than to Europe. A dozen different spoken languages, different religions, different cultures, different histories, etc. And lots and lots of long-term grudges. Not to mention a single, unified currency that was a creation of banking cartels, which is quickly losing favor with many of the locals wanting to return to their own currencies. Take away farm subsidies, then use that money towards programs, initiatives and regulations that is counter to those very farmers and you end up with some rightfully pissed-off farmers. Layer in Ukrainian produce flooding a market that they didn't play in prior and relax import tariffs from non-EU countries driving costs down, well there's some angry folks. While we've not seen it being too dramatic here in the US, we're seeing the urban-bureaucratic/academic class attempt to make decisions that are not well thought out and poorly considered. | |||
