I’d like to do something positive this Holiday Season so I’m reaching out for Charitable Giving Suggestions. I’d like to find 3 charities that actually help others not themselves. I’m located in the Seattle area. 1) A Charity that helps People. A food bank or other type of charity. 2) A Charity that helps Veterans. Maybe disabled veterans or their families. 3) A Charity that helps Animals. A shelter or one that helps find homes for unwanted pets. Here’s to a Happy Holiday Season and a Joyous New Year. Thanks and Merry Christmas Mitch ____________________________________________________ The butcher with the sharpest knife has the warmest heart.

Salvation Army. They have very low overhead and get a huge fraction of the donations to people who need it. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Gulfside Healthcare Services in Land O' Lakes Florida would appreciate your donation. Gulfside Hospice did a wonderful job with my dad in his final days earlier this year. Just amazing people. I second Salvation Army. My grandpa moved here with his 7 siblings and his mother; his dad had passed and his family was going to farm all the kids out to other family members to help out on their farms, so she packed the kids up in the middle of the night and ran for it. The Salvation Army took care of them when they got here with nothing. I’ll always donate to them. __________________________ "Trust, but verify."

I donate to The Shriners Hospitals because they helped my big brother when he was 8. They don’t charge families. Mrs. Mike donates to St. Jude. They don’t either. If that doesn’t fit your bill, the Salvation Army does a great job and don’t suck much money off the top... Find a local no-kill shelter and make them a donation directly, either cash/check, something "in-kind" (dog/cat food, cleaning supplies, cat litter, etc.), or both. Ask them what they need more of first.

For Vets, in my opinion, there is none better than The Gary Sinise Foundation. https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/ ________________________ "Don't mistake activity for achievement." John Wooden, "Wooden on Leadership"

How about the USO for vetarans? Salvation Army is tops. Mercy Chefs appears to do a good job with hurricane victims. I suspect your church has a good charity. Ours is UMCOR. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Agreed, the Shriners are another good choice. They get the money where it needs to be without excessive administration costs. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

I do Angel Tree. Not sure it's in every state but you pick a name or names off of a Christmas tree for small children who are poor and they say what they want. I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Another vote for The Salvation Army. The money stays right in your community. It helps those truly in need. I can't say enough good about them. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

Don't forget Toys for Tots. They have a local donation option now. We're annual donors at many, including Gary Sinese Foundation. _________________ This space left intentionally blank.

I suggest a vets cause like 22Kill or the Vallhala Project. We are losing more active and vets to suicide than combat. Vets NEVER GIVE IN TO THE WAR WITHIN.
