I just received Chris Rice’s The Living Room Session on CD. I ripped it to .FLAC files as I always do and added it to the usual folder. I updated my Plex Library and there it is, well not exactly. Tracks 1-4 are missing. Overview says 9 tracks however only tracks 5-12 are there. Never had such an issue before. Anyone have any ideas? All 12 tracks are in the folder on the PC and play in VLC just fine. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Is your library set to auto update? If so I have run into issues with videos being added to other videos as another stream effectively making them disappear. I just happened to find this a long time later. I THINK the auto update may run during a copy and get confused or something. -delete and rebuild the library -turn auto update off -manually update after you’ve done your additions. See if any of the above works / makes sense. I’ve never seen it with an audio file but I don’t make changes there like I do video. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

I suspect this as well, although I haven't run it down. I usually notice it when I copy a file in, then rename/add metadata via another program. I've bever confirmed it happening when Plex isn't monitoring the folders as I copy the media. Something happens where plex can't/won't see a 'change' in the filesystem & then won't re-add the 'new' file or update the name. Usually It.will.have.the.torrent.name.structure.mkv in plex and usually it will play & sometimes it won't. I've never had a metadata flush or rescan fix the issue. If I'm adding multiple movies, I pause the Plex docker so it won't try to process the files while they are copying. You could turn off the auto-update/watch folder, but if you're running it native, restarting it will likely help anyway so I'd kill it.

what do the tags look like on the first four tracks compared to the rest? I use a program called "Mp3tag" v3.19 to edit the tags and thumbnail or folder image. If the Title/Album/Artist names aren't consistent it will sometimes do stuff like that. -------------------- I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

Yes, it was set to auto update. I have turned that off, deleted the libraries, and now I am reloading them.
All the tags were the same. Found/created by the same metadata group in Exact Audio Copy ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

If you are 100% certain tags are right, and the files are not corrupt - last thing I always try is taking the folder out of Plex, then rescanning and refreshing metadata. Then wait a few minutes and stick it back in the Music folder, and then rescan and refresh metadata again. I've never had to delete and replace an entire library so far. This message has been edited. Yep. Only way I found to fix was to delete the library and rebuild it. Since I have turned off auto update I’ve never had the issue. I just manually kick the rescan when I am done doing whatever file work I am doing. Also in case you don’t know you can kick a library rescan from the client app itself such as on Roku. Just in case you forget while at the PC. This occasional weirdness plagued me for years until I just sort of figured out the auto update thing by “throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks”. That fixed it. However a number of my Movies I need to do better about labeling so I just spent about 30 minutes matching and unmatching a bunch of movies so they are correct. TV series are the most jacked up. Really need to figure that labeling out. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. Do you keep your movies in individual folders named with the title and the year in parentheses? I do that now, that is the recommended method. I used to just dump all the files into one "Movie" directory. For TV I have the parent folder with the name of the TV Show, then under that folders for each season, named "Season 01", etc. -------------------- I like Sigs and HK's, and maybe Glocks

Have had this issue before. The fix was something they call the "Plex dance." 1) Move the affected file/folder to a location where plex can't see it. 2) Scan for changes in that library. 3) Empty trash for that library. 4) Move the file/folder back. 5) Scan for changes again. This would be the first thing I would try. "In order to understand recursion, you must first learn the principle of recursion."
