This is a Frigidaire model FGF355AWA about 15 years old and fueled with propane. I use it to bake cookies mostly and roasts. It’s not used every day. Usually, when I’m about half way done making cookie dough, I’ll turn the oven on and when the dough is ready, so is the oven. With the oven set to 375 degrees, now, I have to turn the oven on before I start making the cookie dough and when the oven beeps that it’s ready about the time the cookie dough is ready, the thermometer I have in the oven says it’s 325. A few minutes later it is 400 degrees. Leaving the door open till the temp drops back down to almost 375 and turning the temp down to 370, it seems to stabilize. What would cause the oven to do this? It also has a funny smell when on, and definitely not a propane smell.

Not an appliance repairman. But it sounds like your thermostat is bad......also your burner might be dirty. There are some youtube videos for each model of appliance that are usually pretty good.

Officially, I think he said he had to many "irons in the fire" and was too busy. Politics, running his own business, and what not.

My guess is we sort of burned him out here. He was constantly being paged for repair advice, what brand is best requests, etc., I'm fairly certain it was not relaxing for him.

IIRC he got tired of arguing with people about stuff that was his expertise, and clearly not theirs.

He spent a lot of year giving great advice, pointers, and suggestions. He even sent me his personal cell number at one point and said, “Send me a video of your dryer issue.” He then proceeded to save me hundreds of dollars after about a 5 second listen.

But yeah, I think a lot of it was just that he was tired of being contradicted by non-professionals.

Shucks. I’ve had a few people step into threads and tell me “how it’s gotta be” for home projects, only to have an actual pro show up and say, “That’s not correct.”

Edit - What warhorse said too...?

Yeah, it is sad that this went on for so long that he gave up.

Brad had great political insight and humor.

If you’re implying that he’s now just Regular_Brad or Unassuming_Brad or Average_Joe_Brad, I’m shocked.

Shocked and aghast.

Also, you’re probably correct. Sad if he’s a secret member though. Lots of us liked to hear what he had to say about lots of stuff.

So he tired of the free shit crowd, especially when they didn't take his free advice?

Not surprising, that would annoy any sane person.
