Lady Aurora why do you hate me so?

The kid wants me to brings a couple of things back to Arizona when I fly down later this week that I could only get at Three Bears. So I figured if I was road tripping up to Chugiak, I could at least chase some Northern Lights while I was at it.

Success was, I once again I found the end of the road, this time Knik River Road. Failure was my usual luck with the Lights, a little green fuzz on the horizon. Not even worth getting my camera and tripod out of the truck for.

Then there was this. Mama Moose and her calf, 2 of the 9 I saw out on the roadway. Mama Moose was out for a midnight stroll and had no intention of leaving the roadway. I was there for about 20 minutes before she finally decided to move off to the side of the road.

Nope, just my usual luck with chasing the lights, just a little green fuzz on the horizon. Hell I even drive to Fairbanks last season chasing them and the highlight of that trip was watching a native drop trou and take a dump on the sidewalk in front of the marijuana dispensary downtown.

Were you waiting just to watch, or because you didn't want to drive by for some reason?

Mama Moose kept wandering around on the roadway from one lane to another. Her motions were so unpredictable tat tying to drive by her while she was still in the roadway would not have been a good idea. I really don't like moose; they're big, they know it, they've got an attitude, they're kind of assholes.

I remember some of that when I was stationed there.
