I have a pair of the same Ray Bans Will Smith wore in the original Men in Black (1997). Still hanging on a hook over my workbench in my garage.

I was a big Oakley guy back in High school. I have a pair of A-Wires and Square Wires that I wore from the late 90's up until my vision went to shit and had to wear prescription glasses. I still own them. I wore them for maybe 12-15 years, but they are around 22 years old.
I took them out of the case not too long ago when I was cleaning out my room, and noticed that the rubber ear pieces have deteriorated into a black gooey mess, but the rest of the frame and lenses are still the same.

I seem to lose my Oakleys every 4-5 years. But I use them a LOT so I've never been truly pissed when i lost a pair. Wait, I did have a pair stolen from my car after about a year, that truly pissed me off. I'd say 5 years give or take.

I have a pair of Oakley Sunglasses that I bought with my first paycheck from my first job when I was 15 1/2. So about 22 years.
Situation awareness is defined as a continuous extraction of environmental information, integration of this information with previous knowledge to form a coherent mental picture in directing further perception and anticipating future events. Simply put, situational awareness mean knowing what is going on around you.

I had a set of wayfarers stolen off my face in 1989. I was in high school and had a heavy backpack on, and my hands were full with an architecture portfolio and my carrying case with all my drafting supplies. As I got off the Fresno city bus, a homeboy came up from behind me and snatched them off my face and ran off. He knew I wouldn’t drop my equipment to give chase. I was pissed. I loved those sunglasses.
Sentimental value- a pair of Oakley’s I picked up at the camp victory PX in Baghdad 2004. Don’t even remember the model, long since discontinued. Worn my while tour in Iraq, another in Afghanistan and continue to be worn almost daily here in Arizona. Contacted Oakley a couple years ago about replacement lenses- no longer support such long discontinued stuff, but luckily revision optical does and got new lenses to keep them going. I haven’t found another pair of glasses that fit my face as well.

I have some Maui Jim's that have been relegated to yard work now. They are going on 15 or so years old, lenses are scuffed up a bit, but still work fine.

I can't remember, it's been so long since I had a pair. For years I wore prescription lenses that darkened in the light. That stopped when I had cataract surgery.
First off, I was sure I had everyone beat at having a pair for 20+ years. I can’t believe I’m far behind a lot of you. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Beancooker,

I had a set of Oakley Flak Jackets for over 10 years and left them on top of my truck and drove off. Never found them. I'm on my 2nd pair that I've had for a few years now.

I had a set of Vuarnet's that I bought in 1988 and took with me to the optometrist two years ago. I had my eye exam and figured it was time to upgrade the lenses to my latest prescription and get rid of the scratches in one swoop.
The guy took my glasses in the back to put new lenses in and came back about 15 minutes later to say I have some good news and some bad news. We broke your frames trying to put in the new lenses. Pick out any frame in the shop and it's on us.
So now I have another set of Oakleys.
Cheers~

I have a pair of Vaurnet skiing glasses that I think they sent me as replacements about 1990. I had bought the originals in 1983 for $40. They are still in perfect condition but only see ski duty on bright days.
ETA: Just saw the post two above. My original Vaurnets cracked where it held the lens. I think sun and body oils killed the plastic. When I sent them in asking if they could be repaired because the lens were still perfect they sent me a new set of glasses. I know they were new because they are more tinted than the originals.

So I quit buying nice sunglasses many years ago.
This. Nothing burns like spending $200+ on a pair of sunglasses only to (i) sit on them, (ii) lose them, (iii) have a grandchild mangle them, etc, etc.
Now I buy cheap ones from Sunglass Warehouse and don’t even blink when they get lost or trashed.

My daily glasses for the last 14 years has been my Oakley Gascans. Got them for my 19th birthday and have worn them daily since. Got some new lenses from a place recommended on here less than a year ago, and probably just keep wearing them til I lose them. It's the only pair of sun glasses I own so hopefully I don't lose them.
