In case you live under a rock, Scotland, as of April Fool's Day, enacted a new hate speech law.

It is so overly broad that it would never pass muster here in America, much less survive a Constitutional challenge.

Well, the Islamist Humza Yousaf, First Minister of Scotland, who was the genesis of this latest instance of oppression, was the object of some 4,000 claims of anti-Caucasian hate speech in the first two day.

Naturally, the Scottish Police are not investigating him, despite having a ton of objective evidence. This flies in the face of the law which created a new category of tracked non-crime, and I am not joking, called a "non-crime hate speech event."

Good. Keep shoveling the bullshit upon those fools. This injustice has the potential to be differentially enforced and I am sure it will be. Maybe, just maybe, this will be an encumbrance the average Scot will not be able to ignore. I hope this will show itself to be the overreach that sparks a backlash.

I have said for years that this is the problem with "hate crime" or "hate speech" legislation. Sure, there are crimes and certain speech motivated by hate. Everybody knows that. The problems are 1, that it doesn't apply to everyone, and 2, it tries to regulate mere thought.

The more I read about the speech laws in Western European countries, where one may have reason to expect better, the more thankful I am that our Founders put freedom of speech right up front in the first part of our Bill of Rights.

So far JK Rowling has faced down the Scottish government . They have declined to prosecute her even though she deliberately " Misgendered " a couple of high profile trans persons as soon as the law went into effect . I love it ...

Wasn't there someone in England who was standing by, I think, a Planned Parenthood clinic or equivalent, was asked if she was praying in her head and was then arrested for it.

Naturally, HE isn't being investigated. HE is one of the ruling class, immune to these type of trivial things.
WE are the ones to be investigated! How dare US to not think, speak, act... the way they want US to act. And it's not going to be a shock to anyone that those "investigating" these crimes are going to be hand picked.

Unfortunately, Chicago is looking at the same type of reporting. It falls under the "Non-Criminal" category, and the sub-categories are rather wide. I'm not liking where any of this shit is headed.

Senior SNP figures have been told the nationalist leader decided over the weekend that there is no way for him to survive this week’s vote of no confidence and he may stand down on Monday.
