American flags should be flown an half staff until noon, then full height for the remainder of the day. For those of you who fly flags from home, what do you do if you leave for work in the morning and there is nobody home at noon to raise the flag from half staff to full height? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Thank you Very little |
We have a fixed flag pole mounted to the house so it's up at full height for the whole weekend, no option to half height it, I'd put mine up full height if I was going to be out all day.

Similar issue as HRK. I have a telescopic pole. I can lower it to half height but the flag is still at full staff so I leave it up. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

I put mine out when I leave for work and bring it in at just before dusk. No option for half staff. Sadly there are not many flags flying on my block.

I have a small one mounted 45 degrees from a front window, which in on a porch, under the eaves and illuminated at night. As instructed, I place black 2" wild 12" long ribbon at the top so it drapes down vertically. Don't. drink & drive, don't even putt.

My situation does not allow me to fly at half staff. It flys full staff from morning until dusk.

24 foot flag pole with 4x6 flag. Flown 24-7 with double illumination. On Memorial Day (and other appropriate days) at sunrise I slowly lower the flag to half staff. At Noon I briskly raise the flag to Full Staff. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Same here. I do have a black streamer to use instead of half-staff, but it's very difficult to do. My flag is the only one on my block. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Working this weekend on mine. Got a telescoping one that is silver, wife says it doesn't appeal to our aesthetics here, so yesterday I painted it Hammer finish brown. She is now happy, which in turn makes me HAPPY! Have an LED light I have to refinish too. Flag will be up no later than Monday. God bless all that have given their lives for us!! _________________________________________________ "Once abolish the God, and the Government becomes the God." --- G.K. Chesterton

The Idiot in Chief ordered flags at half staff for FOUR DAYS for the victims of the shooting in San Jose . Members of the military that died in service to their country get a HALF DAY . Think about that for a minute .

No thought necessary. Screw him. Sideways. If you're goin' through hell, keep on going. Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there. NRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

I have a telescoping pole as well so the same issue. BUT, it has the clips for a second flag below the top flag so I just move the flag down to the lower set of clips... not half mast but represents it well enough. Collecting dust.

I'm glad OP asked the question. It reminded me that I wanted to get a two position mount and a black ribbon. As for the question, could you ask a neighbor or relative to raise it at noon for you? --Tom The right of self preservation, in turn, was understood as the right to defend oneself against attacks by lawless individuals, or, if absolutely necessary, to resist and throw off a tyrannical government.

I went to buy a new bracket. None to be found! So I bought black ribbon from Michael's craft store. I'll leave that on top of the flag posts until noon Memorial Day. It sad that many think that this is Veteran's Day.

I have a pole extention I put on top of mine in the morning to give the appearance of half staff. At noon it comes off. It's flying and set up that way today since the 30th is the REAL Memorial Day. Harshest Dream, Reality

I'm house mounted so I will fly it as it does every other day. The only change will be a brand new flag as it's time to be replaced and I usually replace them on Memorial Day or July 4th. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Here is some info I found on how and why to fly the flag on Memorial Day. The half-staff position remembers the men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all. The hour beginning in each locality at 11:00 a.m. of this day as a time to unite in prayer and beginning at 3:00 p.m. local time observe the National Moment of Remembrance THE NATIONAL MOMENT OF REMEMBRANCE Established by Congress and signed into law on December 28, 2000, asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day, to pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday. The Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events; rather, it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, alone or with family and friends, honor those who died in service to the United States. https://starsandstripesdaily.org/ _______________ NRA Life Member
