I have been wanting to get one myself but am not sure of the quality. I was looking at the 2026 Wrangler 4 door Sport S. I thought about the Sahara as I was gonna make it my daily driver but the extras I don't need and would put seat covers over the leather seats anyways. How does the hive like their Wranglers? Any info./tips on the Sport S models would be well appreciated.

A 3-5 year old one with under 40k miles can be has for about half the cost of new.
I looked at a new Rubicon that was $63k. Have seen lightly used ones in the low $30k's with 30kish miles. That is a lot of depreciation.
Are you looking at 2 or 4 door models.

I had a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport (4dr) and recently traded it for a 2025 Jeep Willys (4dr).

So far, so good.

It is not easy on the gas mileage, but it is a smoother ride than the 2013. Beefier suspension. Still getting used to the little nuances between the old Jeep and the new one: Buttons and switches in different positions.
3.6Lr motor. No turbo for me- too much wear and tear on the motor imo.

Sports are the"entry level"
Rubicons are for more of the "4 Wheeler" enthusiasts
"Saharah's" are the "luxury" models. Trim package, leather seats (stuff that I don't need)...
I have the heated seats with cloth, and the remote start, so I'm happy- That stuff helps when it's -10f. Wink

I have been driving Wranglers as my daily driver since 2012, but had one back in 1989 for a couple of years too. In November I got a 26 2 door base (sport) soft top. I always had the 3.6 pentastar in all of them since 2012 except this newest one has the turbo 4. Definitely surprised me with it's acceleration and smoothness. What specific questions do you have?

I am looking at the 4 door model Sport S and am mainly concerned with electrical issues/driving issues and am wondering about getting the extended warranty.

If you go with the factory extended warranty, that offers rental car during repairs, no reason to worry about electrical issues and down time.

You do have to go with all the dealer maintenance stuff to keep the warranty in place.
Now a days it may take a while to get stuff fixed, so the rental car is important.

Everything Rizzle said.-
I have found Jeep vehicles to be reliable even though they seem to have poor ratings. In addition to the 26 Wrangler I have a 25 Grand Cherokee Overland. No problems with either nor my last several Jeeps. Mopar's extended warranty seem like a good deal (especially due to the rental car/loaner) I have had it on several of my Jeeps but never really needed it.

Watch for corrosion issues, two different problems. Corrosion between the door hinges and doors/hood due to dissimilar metals. Also corrosion/paint bubbling on the doors and hood.

From what I’ve read warranty assistance is hit and miss once the warranty expires despite it being a known problem. I had some experience with that and the door hinges on my JK after the initial warranty expired.

I was considering trading my 2012 two door for a newer four door but for the corrosion issues changed my mind.

If you do I’d suggest staying away from the Turbo. I drove one, it seemed “peaky” to me and while on the highway that isn’t a big deal, off roading I’d think that would be a whole other thing. Plus they require premium fuel.

Check Consumer Reports. I don't have it but last I knew, local libraries had copies.

That was one of the main things I have heard about and is pretty discouraging, considering the cost of parts and longevity of the vehicle. I have heard from some people who state Jeep will replace those parts only once and it is better to wait until you think the issue has maxed out, as they won't replace them again.

Some posts in the FB group have been stating the Stellantis is covering corrosion up to eight years, some are saying five years and you’re out of coverage. Some are saying that they were offered partial coverage only and some repaints, no panel replacements. I don’t have any first hand information though. Plus I don’t feel like getting into a p****** match over warranty corrosion coverage with the factory and or the dealers.

Instead of trading up from my 158k 2012 I spent about $1800 to repair the one rust through below the right taillight, replace the aftermarket rear bumper (paint peeling and rusting) repaint the hood and cowl and replace the steering dampener. It’ll probably need front brakes this year again so maybe I’ll get away with about $2500 in repairs. I can’t replace it for $200 a month.

Still wish my two door was a four door though.

How do I like my Wranglers? Old!

I just bought a nice one and gave it to my Granddaughter…
The blue one, same age as her… 16… her first car. Yes she wanted a Wrangler. She had no idea of the surprise before I delivered it to her yesterday afternoon, she was ecstatic, tears were shed!

Her middle name is Belle, after my Mother‘S middle name. So the hood inscription “Belle On Wheels”
A little word play my Daughter came up with that was too hard to pass up.

And my 22 yr old one…

Some people spread happiness wherever they go… some whenever they go.

A touch off topic but, as a kid I always wanted a jeep. My first introduction was learning to drive stick in the army issue M151. Despite driving them at government expense and those old 151’s were rough! I always wanted my own. My first was in 2000. Basic sport. I beat the devil out of it, put 235K on it with no problems. I gave it to someone I know who is a jeep nerd and since I moved from the east coast to southwest every year around Christmas he sends me a picture of it. Over 300K and still going as his winter plow truck. Got another in 09, could definitely feel cheaper thinner less rugged construction. Started. Going downhill at 150K. Don’t have a jeep anymore and can’t justify at the current prices ( my 2000 was 21k new, the 09 25k) though do still miss them.

And another thing the “unbiased” consumer reports review for Jeeps since forever ( including that old 2000 that is still rocking) has always been below or far below average reliability. I started doubting them when reviews for every single domestic car were negative, and every report on Japanese cars was positive.

On the '13 I had some corrosion on the door hinges. Didn't know about the warranty.

There was a recall on my '13 for the head gasket, got it done, and no problems.

Another problem with the older models was the gasket and assembly for the oil fill and filter. It would leak antifreeze. Something about the plastic and the way it was formed. I could smell the antifreeze and occasionally see a small wisp of smoke coming from the grille. It happened around the 100K +, and according to my mechanic, it was pretty common.

One of the things I recommend is figuring out what you want (ie. cloth / leather, stereo system, navigation...), go with a Sport, and upgrade form there.

Unfortunately, an old school key start is a thing of the past. I can't get used to this key-fob shit.

Thanks guys for the replies. I went ahead and ordered one from Carvana as they had the best deals on newer Jeeps I could find anywhere and gave more for my trade. Went to a couple dealers and nobody was really wanting to "play ball" to make a deal and wanted to give me nothing for my trade. Hopefully be here in a week.

Enjoy!

What top did you get?

Now you have the joys of the cool aftermarket toys!
Take a look at the neoprene arm rest cover for the center console.
That lil thing gets HOT! Especially in your Florida sun! It’s gonna save your forearm skin.

My 12 Sport had a coolant leak, the oil cooler was the culprit. Replaced the factory Tupperware one with a Dorman aluminum one, problem solved.

Stay away from Rancho Suspension shocks. I should have known better than anything Monroe. Front steering damper didn’t last 15k and two years when it started giving my steering wheel the wiggles. Replaced it with a Fox 2.0, problem solved.

Interior, the non touch screen radio lost AM and FM, Sirius, CD’s and auxiliary jack still worked, bad solder joints on the IC chip. Replaced it with a used touch screen OEM radio. Driver seat cushion upholstery wore through, replaced it with a Katzskin kit.
