Why not, just makes good sense. Particularly in the current environment of relaxing drug laws and prison penalties. The more ways folks can arm and protect themselves the better.



Coming this fall, it will be legal in Texas to carry brass knuckles, clubs and self-defense keychains, according to reports.

It will be an extension of open carry laws that include rifles and guns.

Over Memorial Day weekend, Republican Gov. Gregg Abbott signed House Bill 446, allowing residents, effective Sept. 1, to carry these items for self-defense, KSAT reported.

The bill’s supporters see this legislation as ensuring Texas’ commitment to the Second Amendment, Newsweek reported.

Said Rep. Joe Moody, D-El Paso, “We can ensure these types of laws aren't being used inappropriately to go after folks who have legitimate tools of self-defense.”

The Texas House of Representatives passed the bill with a 147-0 vote in early April; the Senate then passed it 31-0 in the middle of this month.

I really fail to see any situation where knuckles would be the best option. I honestly think this is good news for gangs and I think we will see some people getting prosecuted for murder using them. The idea sounds neat but knuckles can do some serious damage. I do suppose that knuckles could be carried at times when I can’t carry my gun. That being said I’m going to order some from an FFL that is going to make them. I have my choice of brass, aluminum or titanium. This same legislation will make clubs legal so I can carry my sap legally.

So a master lock at then end of a 2ft chain is okay to carry?

Seriously though it is something like a kuboton or pointed keychain attachment.

No doubt these are what prompted the change in the law. Women were being arrested for having them on thier keychains because officers considered them a form of brass knuckles.
