RogBAny danger in keeping lawn tractor in shed that has small refrigerator?
Have heard cases where gasoline fumes, being heavier than air, can move across the floor and be ignited from the electrical current from refrig.
Would it be advisable to avoid storing tractor in shed?Winter is no problem, refrig is unplugged.

wreckdiverI would be concerned, the gas tank on a mower "breaths" it is possible fumes could build up if the shed is not well ventilated.

My very first thought......
Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

whanson_wiThe danger is going out Saturday morning to do yard work, seeing the fridge, and deciding to spend the morning drinking instead...

If it were a gas water heater (source of ignition) I could see some risk of keeping the lawn tractor there, and probably want the shed well ventilated. I wouldn't worry about the tractor around any electrical appliance.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

MicropterusHope not. I've kept my lawn tractor and a frig/freezer in a single car garage for years.

Chris42Probably not an issue in northern VA. Not enough heat through the year to be a real problem.
All metal shed? Built exceptionally tight? In New Mexico? Might be a consideration.
Does yours get stuffy and really hot in the summer? Smell fumes when you open the door every time? Might be good to have some kind of vent in it.

Just how far is this shed from the house?
You might be able to make it back for your first beer... or you could bring a cooler?

.38supersigYup, You'll get a MWI from the lawn police after you kill two gnomes and end up on the birdbath.

mjlennonIt is highly unlikely vented fumes from a lawn mower could achieve a combustible state. Furthermore, the fridge doesn’t produce an ignition. Presence of electricity does not make spark. Now, if you had natural gas fired water heater in there it’s be different. In that case they advise you to elevate the water off the floor where flammable fumes develop.

SBrooksMy dad has had his two mowers and gas cans in the same barn with a fridge, a freezer, a golf cart charging, etc. He's done it that way for about 25 years now.
It is a large barn and has plenty of circulation though....

Haveme1or2I don no ... My electric fridge doesn't throw sparks like my on/off switches do when I flip them. That tiny blue spark is so pretty and my shop smells of gas & diesel.
