I was planning to try out something new myself this summer. I've been fishing for maybe 10 years now. Became a serious hobby of mine. The thing is right... I noticed that I have only ever fished in the day. I wanted to try something new and decided on trying out some night fishing. Most will know that this is a whole new chapter in the book of fishing. After a few failed fishing nights I read up about "night fishing lures" that glow in the dark at websites like http://huntingfishingplus.com/...-dark-fishing-lures/, I did try them and at first, it seems kind of weird but you get used to it. It's a whole new feeling. I can agree with you on the prices, but I can't really date back that much. I still, however, can see that they have risen quite a fair bit. The truth is night fishing has more to do with the angler than it does the actual ability to catch catfish. I had to understand this from reading online and personal experience. One video was quite entertaining and helped me pick a lure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQnah5CBk_Y
The only seriously bad thing that I hated most about night fishing was the BUGS. I’ll never forget the first time I ever fished at lake mosquitos the size of hummingbirds. The wind, however, usually blows less at night so the water is generally much calmer. This can be a huge advantage if you’re trying to beat high winds but can also be a disadvantage as well. I think I'm going for way too long, I just wanted to share my experience with my new glow in the dark fishing lure. I don't see myself fishing in the day anytime soon.

Night fishing is effective for the reasons listed above.
It was mostly a way for me and my buddies to get drunk and not cause too much harm to the village though, so catching fish was an interruption when it happened.

Okay, now my good sir you have given me a good idea. Must be quite fun getting drunk with the lads in a middle of a lake at night. Razz

It's worth pointing out that we were fishing from shore. Risk of drowning was minimal.

Do be careful please.

My buddies and I would night fish a lot during the summer months when it was too hot to sit in a boat during the day. Catfish from shore with stink bait, Kokanee in a boat using small jigs and trout from shore using Power Bait. And yeah, beer was always involved. Good and memorable times.

I'll add one to the already accumulated most-excellent list of lures:
The Mepp's Minnow. Small or medium sized, for where I fish.
HOWEVER: Every time I catch a nice fish with one of these lures...it never fails that I get hung up on something and lose it. Every. Single. Time.
At $7.99 each ... I understand Bendable's exasperation.
