After our recent move I found this in one of my tool bags. I don't know that it's a tool. It looks vaguely familiar to me, but I don't know what it is. It's about 13" in length, and the metal rod is about 5/16" in diameter.
And the shaft is basically round for it's entire length to the end-- it's not like an allen head or any other geometric shape.
Any ideas?

I can't say I'm sure, but there is nothing to hold a roller on. It's completely smooth all the way. No bumps or indentations, and the small portion after the right angle is only 1.5". 5" wooden handle, 8" straight shaft, 1.5" from the bend.

I can kind of see it, but I don't recall ever having one or needing one, and the wooden handle is attached with a screw at the bottom-doesn't seem like a design for pulling with much force.

I think that must be it. Many years ago we had a fire pit with a wire mesh cover. Thank you! I didn’t want to dispose of it without knowing what it was.
Does anyone need one? If so it’s yours- otherwise I’m going to toss it.

I have a tool very similar to that for pulling the spring tensioner for the serpentine belt for my zero turn mower.
