So would like some help here. I feel like my 32gb internal memory/storage is used up for operating and running apps. makes the phone mostly useless at this point. Guessing that is because now days 32gb phone is so little?

Also this whole app thing. With internet and streaming, security cams and whatever else people use how do you manage? Seems unmanageable, no?

Please help me out. Thanks all.

The storage space is usually used up with music and pictures saved to the phone. Manage those two area you will be fine. Running apps is not really an issue. Also you can save your data namely pics or music to a number of cloud storage providers too.

Is your phone running Android? On my phone you can look at Settings -> Battery & Device Care to see how much storage and memory is used. If you look at storage, it shows me a list of things using the most storage from largest to smallest.

Images and video are typically largest. Audio is high for me as I use audio books. Under apps, Firefox is using over 1GB. If you look at your phone, hopefully you can see where all the space is being used.

For comparison, my phone has 128GB storage and 8GB memory. Most of the time I'm using 50% of both.

I've had several phones over the years that had a memory expansion slot (SDHC or SDXC chip). The slot was so unobtrusive that you might miss it unless you specifically looked for it. It could be used for data, but not all apps. This is not the best time to be buying memory, but still cheaper than a new phone.

Thanks guys, yes mine has the miro sd slot and I have used a couple for vids and pix. Current have very few pix on my phone. Those that I do have are on the micro sd card so not on internal storage. Apps are taking up like 28gb of the 32gb's so rbert has the answer. Upgrading my phone. Thanks guys.

The lowest specced phone Verizon has available now has 64 GB. High end phones have 1 TB. As others have said, probably time for an upgrade.

That said though, check your memory in settings. It should give you a breakdown by category of what's using your storage. You should be able to trim some fat in the highest usage categories to free some space.

I just checked my phone for the heck of it, and it's 70 GB used by apps, 18 GB for the operating system, and 16 GB for photos and videos. It's impressive you've been making it work with only 32.

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

Why don’t you move some of the apps to the SD card to free up internal storage?

On my Motorola, it doesn't allow storing apps on the sd card. I imagine his is the same.
I think there is a hack to get around it but I'm not sure/how well it works.

I have a 128Gig card in mine I got last year for $9.99. Now the same card is $26. I glad I built my computer last year too.

Of my 64GB internal storage on my phone,
Apps 20GB
System 17GB
Everything else in on the SD card.

I don't think that is how it works like dsiets mentioned.
Perception also alluded to that in how his phone is configured.

My current phone doesn’t take a SD card but my last Samsung did and I had a bunch of apps running from the SD card.

Try: Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Storage > Change.
