Update - it's a done deal, accepted a job offer this past Friday and turned in my 2 weeks yesterday. It's bitter sweet, but anxious to get stuff packed up and make the move.

Any good ranges in the area?

My wife finishes up grad school this semester and we'll be packing up and headed that way. She has her townhouse in Mt. Pleasant (literally right next to the Ravenel Bridge) rented out to a friend, but they'll be moving out at the end of April. The timing couldn't be better honestly. She has lived there for 4-5 years prior to moving back for grad school and I've been several times, so we know our way around.

Time to dust off/update my resume and let the job hunt begin!

Is this the East Cooper area you're moving to or Old Village? Mount Pleasant is convenient to both downtown and the beaches and offers a range of older established neighborhoods and new subdivisions. Its excellent public schools and the town's robust recreation program make it a desirable place to raise a family. They just put up a new med center there as well. It has a healthy mix of young families and old-timers, many with local generational roots. Slants conservative but genteel.

Why? Hell, just the Low Country Stew is enough to do the move.

Between the new fridge last weekend and the new water heater today, I have no choice but to go down and enjoy my new purchases.

Pack that new van up and come on down one weekend!

Matt, you lucky bastard.

I've had family in Charleston my entire life, have been making regular winter escapes there with Mrs.BurtonRW, and can't wait to retire there.

I say it again - you lucky bastard.
