Prescription Help: EpiPen costs
One of my kids has a severe fire ant allergy and we are going to have to buy several EpiPens. Can anyone offer advice on the best way to get these inexpensively? Generic Options, Coupons, Government subsidies, Grants...anything? Thanks

Put the GoodRX app on a smartphone.
$300 per Epi-pen dropped to about $75

BTW do not keep in car and do not put in fridge. Expiration date is generally 18 months so might not get that many. Immunotherapy helps.

Ask for the script to specify Epinepherine injector....not "Epi-pen". Same thing in a generic version at a decreased cost.

I don’t understand why they are so expensive...other than greed. We buy epi 1:1000 in vials and they cost less than 5 bucks! The difference is they aren’t for the lay person and we draw the correct amount out with a syringe to dose someone...it’s pure greed I tell ya

Don’t forget that epi is a drug that is safe & effective past it’s expiration date.
They can turn a darker color and still work fine.
Cloudy means toss it even if in date.
There is an epi shortage around here, not sure if it’s national.

My wife has to keep one on her. As stated they have a shelf life. The last time she had to get new ones they were in short supply everywhere, maybe that is no longer an issue.

Insurance to cover law suits drives prices up too

This is what I've got, my doc just accepts whatever the insurance company pays.

Our Pharmacist contacted our doctor and had the prescription resent for a generic.

But the original prescription would have been about $500 a pen. Since generic was covered, it was a co-pay.

Tea tree oil will take the stink out of bee stings and may kill the toxins from fire ants.

It is also great for ticks which probably suffocates them and kills the toxins. Usually they just drop off.

My wife was prescribed EpiPen recently. Her insurance would not cover them. The doctor changed it to Auvi-Q epinephrine auto-injector and her insurance covered them without a co-pay.

This is precisely why Epipens have increased 3 fold in cost.

"A two-dose package cost around $94 nine years ago. The cost averaged more than six times that in May."
