Toothbrush with Artificial Intelligence

I shit you not. So AI is the buzzword, or buzzphrase, and everyone is bending over backwards to include it in their marketing.

This is a legit product from Oral B, and here's the link in case you're skeptical:

https://oralb.com/en-us/produc...ic-toothbrush-white/

I don't need a refrigerator with BlueTooth, and I'm pretty sure I don't need a toothbrush with AI. I don't even have an electric.

What's next? A toilet with AI that analyzes your poop to monitor your digestive health?

It’s just BS features they push to justify charging you $150 for that.

I buy the basic model for $50 and it’s good enough for 3-5 years until the battery craps out.

You still have to physically guide the brush around your teeth, so what patterns of brush spinning are you getting that requires some sort of AI? Just nonsense, capitalizing on a buzzword.

Not for me, either.

I’m torqued that my stores seldom offer toothbrushes with the simple rectangular bristle array that I prefer.

I was just at a house the other day to open a safe that was involved in a house fire. Fire investigators had narrowed the origins of the fire to the bathroom sink located in one of the basement's bedrooms.

They had the homeowner come in to identify a few blobs of molten appliances that remained. The cause was an electric toothbrush.

Great idea, but the colonoscopy doctors' union won't like it.

My wife found me in the bathroom naked holding a gun
"What the hell are you doing?" she screamed, shocked at my appearance.

"Quiet woman! I'm hunting decepticons!" I whispered back harshly.

She put her hands on her hips. "You've been sleep walking again! There are no such thing as decepticons!"

I blinked, realizing how stupid I looked.

"I guess you're right! Man I must look like an idiot!" I said.

She laughed.

I laughed.

The toothbrush laughed.

I shot the toothbrush.

Nah, they'll love it! It will of course have a disclaimer telling you that all results should be followed up and verified by an actual doctor.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

At my last six-month dental appointment, my dentist recommended replacing my five-year-old Sonicare with an iO Series 7, one of the newest and most expensive devices on the market. I was about to replace the Sonicare anyway, but not for $180. And I get that his practice is expensive to run and they do a great job, but I’m not an ATM.

I did go to Wal-Mart and get an iO Series 3 for $70, which has very few of the AI bells and whistles of the top-like models. It’s been far better than the Sonicare.

That does sound more like AI marketing bullshit than actual AI. Companies know how attached people are to their smart phone. An app for your toothbrush makes you more loyal to the brand.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

I just picked up an Oral-B GENIUS X with A.I., on the recommendation of my dentist, at Costco...with a $50 off rebate. $109 for 2 handles/carry cases, 2 chargers, and 4 brush heads.

Costco had several models of Oral-B and Sonicare there so I could actually compare them and see what the more expensive ones offer. The most expensive was a Sonicare for almost $300...at Costco pricing
