Dry bag in the sauna (dry / steam)? Login/Join

I'm going to start hitting the gym a couple of times a week. Do some exercises that are not really possible at home. But also to use the both the dry heat and steam saunas.

The gym, however, is rife with theft from lockers. So, I will not use the lockers. But I need a change of clothes (gym clothes for exercise, swimsuit for the saunas).

I have a (10-20L?) dry bag that I use for kayaking / boating. I think it will keep moisture out from my clothes, wallet, phone. But any reason I shouldn't use it for the dry or steam saunas?

I don't trust the lockers....

The only thing might be sensitive electronics that might not take the heat well. I think a dry bag will be fine for your clothes.

The best answer may be to go to a nicer gym.

Okay, maybe I'll leave my wallet and phone in the car safe.

I wish I could go to a nicer gym but can't afford it. It's either my current $200/year or $300/month. Not much in the middle between now and nicer gym.

Guessing you can't padlock the locker door?

I can put a lock on the locker door but it does no good. Thieves are still breaking into lockers. The facility mgmt does nothing and just put up a sign to recommend that no valuables be left in the lockers, locked or not. Basically, don't leave anything in the locker you're not willing to lose.

Holy Crap. Hopefully the rest of the facility is worthwhile.

Any dry bag that you would trust to hit the water will be fine in a dry or steam sauna. I certainly wouldn't worry about the heat affecting any of your possessions if you can live through it.

It's okay, nothing special in terms of exercise area and machines. Pretty good and clean.

But the locker rooms, saunas, pools, jacuzzi are under maintained and a little gross. I won't use the wet areas, including the showers. Just the saunas.

Why wouldn’t the thieves steal your dry bag from the sauna?

I used to go to a gym that had a nice sauna. It was totally ruined by a big sweaty guy who would go in the sauna, get nekkid, then spread his sweat-soaked gym clothes out on the rack. He would spread out and grunt his way through his time in the sauna. Gag!!

So one of my Vegas gyms. Woman is cleaning out a hair brush into the pool.
As I leave I mentioned it to the front desk. You might want to address that.
The response was "what is her name?". The heck if I know and I turned and left.
Front desk woman had the Marty Feldman eyes to fully round out the experience.

Because I'm holding it? I guess they still could but I'd put up at least some symbolic fight. Smile

Maybe something like this is a viable option?
