Handgun rounds annually
I used to shoot about 500 every other weekend but with my new schedule this year, I no longer work weekends. Once I settle in (it just started Monday), I will probably shoot 2-300 every Monday night.

I did not really keep track pre-2024 but it was not nearly that much. Maybe half, but probably even less.

Questions:

1) How do you maintain such a precise count?
2) When Dececember 31 rolls around, would you please finish off the box?! My OCD is killing me!!

I keep a spreadsheet and update it on my phone when I pack up at the range. Some work-related trips are approximate numbers because demos over the course of an 8 hour day are harder to track.

For all of my personal practice and training, I have a lot of magazines (29 practice and 16 match magazines for my PDPs, over 50 magazines for the Glock, etc). I go to the range generally with enough loaded magazines to get through the day and just count the empties at the end.

I can't recall why I ended up at such an odd number in 2024.

I’ve really toned down this last couple of years. I often take my son and nephews out to shoot. About 1500 9mm, 44, 45acp, and 400 5.56 for me. Another 1000 for the rest of the fambly (they often bring their own ammo). All through my guns.

About 7000, I’d estimate.

Further thread drift-

Have you started using a maglula or similar in loading a couple dozen mags at a time?

I'd have to think hard to remember the last time I picked up a gun. At least 5 years, likely more.

The last time I shot regularly, I'd say 5-7k a year.

A Perpetual Disappointment...
