Chicken wings and Beef on Weck!

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Lemme see. Fish soaked in lie. Hmmmm.
Waitaminute, you're thinking of Lutefisk, not lefse, which is just a flatbread.

I've never had Lutefisk. I tried to order it at a diner passing through Minnesota, but it wasn't "in season". Frown

I probably didn't miss much, but I was hoping to at least decide for myself.

Around here the Pittsburgh Salad

Basically a nice big house salad with either fried chicken breast or grilled, slice up and then french fries and shredded colby cheese. I like ranch dressing on mine but thats up to you.

Also Primanti Brothers Sandwich

Back in the hay day of the steel mill the steelworkers didn't have time for breakfast break and lunch so they made up the Primanti sandwich.

Basically a nice thick white bread, pastrami or whatever meat, cheese, french fries and a fried egg. I love mine with mayo. So bad for you but life changing goodness!!

Prantl's bakery downtown has their famous burnt almond torte cake. Dear lord is it good. OMG

Here is the description from their site:

"Prantl’s Bakery ships its legendary Burnt Almond Torte nationwide on Goldbelly! Prantl’s Bakery’s Burnt Almond Torte features layers of the bakery’s special creamy vanilla buttercream combined with candied toasty almonds. The Burnt Almond Torte, one of Pittsburgh’s most legendary desserts, and it makes even the toughest Steelers fans swoon."

I would have to say BBQ for Austin, TX. We have several great BBQ joints here. I am not aware of a specific food that originated in Austin.

I guess one claim is Chuy’s got their start in Austin and is a great Tex-Mex restaurant known both for their food and their Mexican Martini, which I have the recipe for.

Torchy's Tacos is also really good and started in Austin. Austin has a lot of food trucks, but I am sure that probably got its start in California.

So Austin has BBQ, Tex-Mex, and food trucks.

I'm currently a Jersey guy, so I gotta put this out there...

The pork roll, egg and cheese on a hard roll breakfast sandwich.

Pork roll was developed in 1856 by John Taylor of Trenton, and sold as "Taylor's Prepared Ham" until 1906. Other producers entered the market, and subsequent food labeling regulations required Taylor to designate it as "pork roll" alongside its competitors. In regions of North and Central Jersey, all brands of pork roll may be referred to colloquially as "Taylor Ham".

Yeah, I tried one once from what was told to me to be a legit vendor. Wasn’t my thing. Is that here nothing else from here as far as a dish Seattle’s known for? I guess maybe Ivar’s clam chowder, but maybe not? I dunno.

Ah, Lutefisk. I’ve always wondered, but I haven’t managed the courage to actually seek it out.

You know, I almost posted a thread about it a few weeks ago. Out of nowhere, I had a really bad craving for a good beef on weck, and just drown it in au jus. I think it’s been a good… twenty years? Too long. Need to snag one when I drive through Buffalo next spring.
